I currently use an i1D3 colorimeter coupled with an i1 Pro 3 spectrophotometer, but I want to upgrade my color meter to something much faster and more accurate in low low luminance measurements. It seems the only upgrades are either a CR-100 or Klein K10.

I came across some used Konica Minolta CA-310 meters but they don't market their use in projectors, it seems it is used mostly for flat panel display manufacturing. Does anyone have advice or experience on the CA-100 and whether it can be used for CRT calibration and general projector calibration. Does it need to be recertified? Is it worth spending around $2,000 for a used unit?

Also are there any other meters that are meter than the i1D3 but cheaper than a CR-100 or Klein.

Thanks for everyones thoughts and opinions, it is very appreciated.

Hi!

Send me an email at kal@curtpalme.com and include what types of displays you want to calibrate and I'll loop in ChromaPure who have used/sold all of the meters you mention. They don't tend to follow the forum. They'll be very pragmatic about what makes sense for you. Often the answer is that it's not worth it as the price/performance on these things isn't a very friendly curve.

Cheers!

Kal
