Did you ever wonder how the huge displays at Mission Control worked? This was back in the 1960s, long before any kind of projection technology that could accomplish what they did in the Mission Control room. Especially in color, especially with the brightness they had. So they invented an electromechanical solution! (And a custom purpose-built Eidophor display for TV images.)
