Hi all again! I'm following up along similar lines as this post: https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=43258.html

I think I misunderstood the capabilities of the VP50 and VP50 Pro. Doesn't seem like it can do 1920x1080@72hz. That being said, people have posted in the past(https://www.avsforum.com/threads/1920x817-72hz-other-then-the-vp50pro-can-any-other-vp-do-this.1101266/#post-15401740) that it can handle 1920x817p@72hz...

My first question is... How? I know I can edit resolutions in the menu, say dropping 1080 to 817, but how do I get 72hz to work with this? Anyone with firsthand experience on this?

Secondly, I've seen it mentioned by a few (http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=221593#221593) that reducing porches on 48hz gets the flicker way down. Anyone got specific modeline info on that?

Thanks so much!

How are you getting the analog signal at 72hz at either 1080p or 817? Do most of the HDMI or DVI to RGBHV do that? I thought most are fixed at the normal resolutions and refresh rates?

Reducing the porches I thought was for ringing and overlap? I don't see how a porch setting will effect flicker as the CRT is still being painted at the same rate with the same fixed decay isn't it?

I'm not using an hdmi/dvi to rgbhv at all. I'm taking the output from my vp50 pro right to the dvi card.

I got it all working with 817p@72hz btw. Looks incredible. Set up 48hz too got 1.78:1 content and only in very bright scenes does it look flickery.
