Hi everyone,
I don't know if I've asked this question here before. I have a problem with my Barco Graphics 801s. Unfortunately, the previous owner turned the potentiometers for the G2 settings.
Now the settings do not work as stated on the projector. The LEDs for the output amplifiers should actually go out when the setting is correct...but they don't. I've tried it in various ways, and I've also been careful when turning the pots. I also downloaded the instructions here, but there is very little to nothing to be found there. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for valuable tips.

Many greetings...

IIRC you need to turn them VERY slowly. Though it's been probably 20 years since I had my hand in one so best to poke/search around the forum here. I think in some cases they don't go out either (?)

I'm moving to the CRT projector section as this is more about the proper setup of a 801s and not really "calibration".

Kal

Hey Kal, this is crazy. I followed your advice and lo and behold; it actually worked...I just managed to do it with the necessary delicacy. Thanks for this valuable hint.

Great that you can now make this adjustment. Keep in mind though that even when you get those LEDs to go out the adjustment may not be correct. It may be good enough but if you want it right it's probably not going to be.

The issue is age.

There are alternate ways to get a better adjustment. Search the forum as there have been many discussions over the years.

On my projector I have replaced many components over time but still that adjustment using the LEDs is not correct.

Have fun.

I had a graphics 801s for a few years. Things about focus: ignore the LEDs, use sunglasses and look into the tubes. Contrast at about your normal viewing settings (i used 50 to 60) and white text on black background. It works even better if you unscrew the lenses and look directly onto the tubeface.
Don't expect too much of the 801s's focussing ability, it is ES focus after all. It will get blurry if the picture get's bright.
You can setup the focus with a black text on white background, but then it will defocus if the picture gets dark.
I think in very bright movie scenes, loss of focus will be more acceptable than in mostly dark scenes.
Best regards from Germany, Julian
