I have been having ballast noise issues for a few weeks as of late and also the projector bulb in the 5030ub is running hot hot hot as of late. So I took two Epson Projectors that had different issues and made one good running 6030ub. I had a busted up 6030 that had a bad llcd on the optical block causing vertical lines to appear. It also had a busted front bezel. It had been dropped while being hung or removed the way it looked. It came from a pallet I got from BYU this last spring. I will hang it tomorrow. The 5030ub I used mainly for Sports started getting issues with the ballast. I have a spare part but decided to upgrade and combine the two. We painted the front white bezel black earlier today that came from the 5030. Fun times!! Only took me 2 hours of troubleshooting. I didn’t know the 5030ub and the 6030ub used the same optical block. The numbers on the outside of the lens assembly are different but the numbers on the lcd panels are both H585. It’s the other equipment used around it that makes it a little different I guess. This was sorta fun. Waiting on the paint to dry from the black rattle can job we did on the 5030 bezel to match the 6030.

Making something from almost nothing is one of my favourite passtimes. I've been known to build a car with parts from 10 cars an a FedEx truck.

For a while there I was into the JVC DILA G series projectors. I did allot of the parts swapping. Cleaning and getting it all together. It's satisfying. I have 5 or 6 of those made from 9 or 10 of them. Fun stuff.

Thx Analog....yes it is fun. I have a fetish of playing with the G series Epson's since used they are very very cheap. I got a new project hitting me next week at a friends place. He has a DLA x9 that I believe has a ballast issue the way he described. It's intermittent with the picture being fine one day and the picture not showing the next with the lights all lit up and blinking for his DLA-X900. Either that or it's a bad bulb. But I know the X bubbas had issues.
