I'm considering buying an older Barco Graphics 808s with hd144 lenses.

Lenses got about 3500 hours on them.

Is this the same as the non replacable Sony lenses (or extremely pricy iirc).

If these lenses/lamps fail is there still any sources for parts?.

Thanks for any tips Smile

At this point, consider that almost nothing is available for any CRT projector. I've gotten rid of everything save for some G90 and 909 parts. The G808s does use the Sony tubes, but at 3500 hours, they should be OK. Judge by the focus, whites should be white, and overall brightness.

At this point, an 8" projector should be almost free, or $100 or so. Anything more, and I'd pass on it.

Thanks for reply and info, yea thought it might be pretty obsolete when it comes to parts, but isn't the t investment (rought $150), but as this is in Norway and these are very scarce I guess it's not way off when it comes to cost.

What's the difference between these HD lenses and "standard" (is there any source of info about the different types used on these?).

It also comes with a iris2 adapter.

thanks again.

Someone here did a mod kit to fit the sharper HD144 lenses on instead of the HD8s. Getting corner focus perfect is a bit tougher, but you'll get it eventually. There should be a ton of posts in the archives here about them. Go back about 10-15 years. Smile

HD144's are a big step up. They also have a shorter throw distance taking the pj out of the sweet spot, particularly useful for a floor mounted pj.

See: http://www.curtpalme.com/JoustModsAdapters.shtm

They were discontinued in 2013 due to lack of sales.

I always wanted to try a set of those on a 1252 with new tubes, just to see how sharp that would be. 240p anyone?
