according to this article, Jackson is definitely not part of it = good news

https://www.nme.com/blogs/tv-blogs/lord-of-the-rings-tv-series-release-date-plot-cast-2170413

bad news, they tapped the clowns who did Star Trek 4 and Godzilla. Really pretty oblivious to the fact that Tolkien is about story telling and not whiz-bang fight sequences. These 2 guys will f*ck it up, it will probably not even make it to 2nd season

Then there's this, inability to simply accept a series of books written in the 1940's for what they are

Quote:
Not to be a stick in your spokes, Ian, but might it be time to let someone else have a go at Gandalph? That’s what New Zealand-born actress Robyn Malcom, who played a female Rider of Rohan in Peter Jackson’s 2002 movie The Two Towers, believes should happen.

Speaking to Stuff, Malcolm said: “Those old legends, those old mythical stories, they’re so based within a patriarchal landscape.“Why not look at the magic of a matrilineal world, where the magical powerhouses are women?”

The little-known actor went on to argue that “a big star” was probably needed for the role”, but “then of course you go to Dame Judi [Dench] or Eileen Atkins or Maggie Smith.”
So I guess we need a Female Gandalph Rolling Eyes

On a brighter note, Amazon did manage to NOT f*ck-up The Expanse, and apparently allowed the show to continue in the same style/content as the excellent first 3 seasons from Scy-fy channel

Anyone watch any of the LOTR spin-off's done in-between or after the 6 movies? I was so disgusted by The Hobbit there's a chance i might have missed something good. Like this ?

EDIT! I've moved my thoughts here to avoid derailing: https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=42290.html

I hope some folks chime in with reviews of LOTR spin-off movies. IT's been long enough now for to mostly forget the sour taste left behind by Peter Jackson's The Hobbit Thumbs Down

Which reminds me, I wouldn't mind picking up a BD copy of the original Animated version, still the best version ever, any suggestions?
