Hi All,
I'm new to CRT beamers and have a Barco Graphics 800 laying around already for some time and decided to see if I can get it working for a HT setup.
It's booting and tubes are really good/almost no wear.
To start with I'm reading a lot of information especially thanks to this great website and forum!
Still I have some trouble in figuring out on how to get the BG800 working properly...
My goal is to run either 720p or 1080i with it because I understand the BG800 isnt really good for 1080p.
I'm now using a Dell Optiplex 390 (Intel Graphics 2000) as HTPC on W10x64 directly connected with a VGA to 5BNC cable to the Barco.
I'm still not able to get a good picture. Also Powerstrip is not very useful + I don't really understand it yet and I'm afraid to break stuff  .
I'm now thinking of getting a HDfury 3X or either an Extron box.
I have the possibility to try an Extron RGB 160xi too from a friend.
As I understand both of those boxes are able to provide the same resolution settings at all times regardless of the source, correct? So this should make my life a lot easier.
Another thing that I'm still struggling with is the resolution settings.
I have read multiple threads on resolution settings but I'm still not able to understand it fully.. That's also probably why Powerstrip is not very useful to me right now.
Are there people that can help me/put me into the right direction regarding the resolution settings with either directly connected to my HTPC or with a HDfury/Extron box?

The projector needs to see negative sync on both the H and V signals. Most new computers put out positive sync. The easiest way to convert is to get an Extron 202xi or 203, which has a 'force negative sync' switch on it.
I've got a 203 here right now that I'd sell for $50 plus shipping. Seems like eBayers want $175 for those, which is overpriced.

Thanks, so the 203 is better.
I'm happy to buy it but unfortunately I have another problem I need to sort out first..
Turns out the main powersupply is having a problem.
Yesterday it worked and today not anymore..
After some inspection, turns out the fuse holders are very oxidised (white powder).. tried to clean them and did help a bit but still not booting fully.
Green led is on, fans blowing, error led on control unit blinks a few times,
System reboots twice and shuts down while the error led stays on..
Perhaps any clue where to look at? Or start with replacing the fuse holders?
No cracks on the current soldering btw.
Edit: on the focus board the top left yellow led and 2nd top right are not powering on. So indeed fuses right?
All other boards are excluded. Took them out one by one and tried to boot.

Those are known for bad solder joints, and yes, an unlit LED is usually a blown fuse (or two sometimes). The white powder won't do any harm, I saw that 15 years ago on some boards..

Thanks again! Will try some new fuses at first...
I thought the white powder stuff would cause some bad connections.
I will keep this thread up to date.
I'll let you know if the powersupply is fixed.
If so, I definitely want to buy that Extron from you.
Also there is a possibility for me to buy a Sony 1292 but the seller wants to see if he can sell it for more then I offered him.
Offered 135€ for it together with a HDMI card.
Would be a nice upgrade...

Another device I've had good results with is the Extron DVS 204: https://www.extron.com/product/dvs204
When I was using it with my projector, I was just using it for its signal amplification with a PC. The direct signal from the computer was pretty miserable. The component video input is quite convenient for a projector that otherwise lacks it. I know for a fact it will also let you change output sync polarity.

Good scalers, just make sure the seller poweres it up overnight. I've owned 10 or so and some have dead caps suddenly, especially after sitting.

FYI intel video drivers have built in custom resolution feature for quite some time now, where one can select + or - sync for example.

Same with AMD and Nvidia drivers, except it doesn't work properly half of the time. Custom resolutions used to work perfectly fine with third party software until about 2 years ago, but both manufacturers keep "updating" their drivers which actually end up destroying custom resolution support. Sorry for short rant lol. csotranme's best bet is to play around in the drivers (i don't remember where excactly in the software you do this) and try different sync polarities. I do recommend using ToastyX Custom Resolution Utility if you can make it work. Report back if you do.
