Yes, this isnt laser at all, it is as mentioned dlp with a laser light source.

All it is, is a typical laser DLP short throw projector, with a Screen Innovations ALR screen... nothing special, its just a "neat package" put together for $10,000!

To be fair though, if you've never seen a good single chip laser DLP, you're missing out. There's a phosphor wheel, but no colorhweel, so no rainbow effect. The color is also a lot more vibrant than any colorwheel DLP I've serviced or seen.

Sheesh that's expensive. But it's no more than what Plasma TV's used to cost way back when. I remember them being $35,000 in 1998!

I bought my mom a used Pioneer 42 inch "economy series" from c.2006. It was $6000 back then

Yeah, it really is amazing the display tech we have today for the prices. Proof positive that the industry has more or less gone for the "race to the bottom".

I saw it at Cedia. It looked like crap to me.
Epson had a short throw for IIRC $3k that looked pretty good. It was 1080p though.
