I have a 9500 that when I power it up The red LVPS LED blinks and the projector either turns off or pulses on and off. Can any one give me suggestions how to troubleshoot this problem?
Thanks

Hello
You may have an LVPS failure but more likely it is a shorted chip or transistor on a circuit board. Pull the lower front cover that the power cord goes into, try powering up again, and look at the LEDs on the front of the LVPS. Which LVPS light is flashing? They are specific to voltage rails in the machine and may offer a clue as to which board(s) to pull.

I've found from my own experiences that this symptom is of a weak LVPS
more often than anything else. It's quite common now that most Marquees are
at least 10 years old and ones that are more than 20 are by no means rare.
A technician can replace the capacitors in a weak LVPS
BUT it's a few hours labor and may involve replacing more than 50 parts.

Pull every PC board out one at a time save for the LVPS and CLM. With those two in the set, the belly fans should turn on and off, indicating that the CLM and power supply are most likely working. Once you pull out the shorted board, the set will fire up. Most likely problem boards are the focus board, H board and the CRT boards on the backs of the tubes.

Although Curt is exactly right about a method to troubleshoot for a shorted board if that is in fact your problem, I myself
have not yet found a shorted board in a Marquee that would drag down the LVPS in the roughly 13 years I've had and worked
on Marquees. In particular, if your power supply is made by MicroEnergy (label on the front of it) then it is old enough that
it could certainly be getting weak due to ageing electrolytic capacitors.
I don't think MicroEnergy has made a Marquee power supply in more than 10 years. When they stopped making them, VDC
went to other vendors to build the same design. And not just one.
So far, for me, 100 percent of the time when the unit would just click and not start up, coupled with a flickering LVPS error indicator LED on the CLM status LED row, it has always actually been an LVPS that was weak or had failed entirely.
I've replaced several LVPS units in just the last year, on multiple projectors, and rebuilt a couple of those failed LVPS units, which
are so far all running strong.
Even if it turns out not to be the LVPS, I recommend you buy a spare LVPS from Curt because eventually you will need it.

I replaced the power supply with another on and the projectors up, no problem. Thanks for the input.
