I own a 80" rear projection Proscan that I have had since 1997 and it just shorted some wires under one on the CRT units.
Does anyone still have the electronics unit I can purchase for parts. A wiring diagram would also help if available. I really want to fix and keep this TV if at all possible !! Thanks for any help or advice.

hello Dave,

purely out of curiosity i did a search on this forum and came across this thread: https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=10509.html

it certainly is a long shot, but macgyver655 did say he had a pile of rca manuals. however, this thread was made back in 2008. i dare say he may have ditched them by now? Shocked

usually sets of this age are prone to failure because of bad capacitors or bad solder joints. if youre competent with a soldering iron i suggest removing a board at a time (without knowing what exactly is wrong - this can help diagnose the issue) and looking over each solder joint for a ring or a crack. even bulging capacitors are easy to spot for a novice?

all the best!

regards,

justin.

Thanks for the response Justin. My brother in law is pretty good with all the fixing stuff, I numbered all the wires and took it apart and brought it to his house. He repaired it and when I went to put it back in I cannot for the life of me find the wire group that plugs into J3104 on the main circuit board. So I am hoping someone has a picture, wire diagram or spare part so I can solve the mystery.

The best theory I have is one of my kids stole it so I would have to come out of the dark ages and get a new flat screen.
But I seriously cant imagine them doing that !! I will keep hunting... It wanted to start up after the repairs, but wouldn't.
Rookie move , I know not taking lots of pictures before I started taking the whole thing apart.

By the way the thread you showed me is what brought me to this forum in the first place . Found it on google and it lead me here.

Cheers, and thanks again for the response.

it certainly would be a shame to drive something like this to land fill if you simply couldnt work out which wire went where?

what happens and what does not happen when you power it up without this wire plugged in? is it the only plug missing?

Power cord is still there and it tries to start when I power it up. When I took it apart I labeled all the wires as I said and there is still #11
next to J3104 Wire harness clip and no # 11 wire set there to plug into it. I have spent hours and hours trying to find this wire set, but I honestly don't know
Where the other end would attach since J3104 is the only empty wire connector.

Thats why I am asking about wiring diagrams, photos, previous knowledge of the set , anything to help save it.

It will be recycled, we have the electronics section for old gear, but since this unit is 90% cabinet and 10% electronics, I supposed you are correct that some landfill will end up with the bulk of it.

I will not give up on this !!
