|
|
My remote only responds aimed at the beast, and often very close to it. I am pretty sure I have used it aimed at the screen and worked, but now, since I've made it a 2010 it works very badly?
I am so use to just fine tune my image like 2 hours after but this slow remote is making me nuts. I have a 2010 remote that initially worked, but by looks of things it forces me to aim at the beast.
Am I dreaming, the remote should work aimed at the screen too, right? I have swapped the previous remote with the 2010 but it has no effect.
EDIT: I have swapped the receiver too.

Try fresh batteries.
I have occasionally seen a Marquee remote with very low output. More than once, actually.
You may be able to use the camera in your smartphone to SEE the flashing IR leds in the remote. Try it.
Hint: Sometimes the front-facing camera works better than the back-facing camera for viewing IR sources.

Batteries I have swapped for brand new once. I also have a multimeter and the reading says fully charged. Very strange.

Like I said, it may just be low output. I have at least one Marquee remote with the same problem.
Use your smartphone's camera to see the IR output of the remote. It should be moderately bright as seen from the phone's camera, depending on the model of phone, of course.

Ok, news to me. I have a Microsoft XL 640 and I can't even make it download a single program. More than likely the mobile itself.. OR ME.
Aah, I have 3 remotes I can try, but pretty sure it will end up the same. The 3rd never even worked so 2008 + 2010 or nothing.
The smartphone thingy I will think it thru to make it happen on my end.
But thanks.

That remote problem happen also on my later model 9518.
I forgot what I did to correct the problem, but it seem to be on the CLM. Try replacing the VIM with the one that came in it nd see what happens..

Hello
Try pulling and reseating U16 on the CLM, you could have a trace of tarnish in some pins.

Great suggestions there, I will try tomorrow. One thing is for sure, rechargeable batteries are brand new for this thing, and still this low reach. I'll try everything coming to me as soon as it works at all.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm having similar difficulties with my own machine.
It was working perfectly and due for a glycol change due to it having gotten murky over the last eight or so years.
Everything tests good in my test chassis.
But the darned thing won't turn on the HV and it also isn't giving any error indications.
I've done everything but swap out the cards in the card cage, and I can't do that until I drop the unit off the ceiling.
VERY frustrating. I DO feel your pain.
I've NEVER had a Marquee give me this much trouble, and I've had quite a few of them over the years. At least eight or nine, all told.

Thanks everyone for help and concern. I will try later with your suggestions I must get it started first from being shorted.
But the 9518 pj is not blame I think the remote went bad on me a short time before I even got it here.

Chris wasn't suggesting to use a remote app on your phone. He was saying, LOOK at the remote emitter while pressing buttons. YOU see nothing. Now look at it with your phone camera. The camera will see the IR bursts.
You said you're using rechargeable batteries. Did you try regular alkalines? Rechargeable batteries have a lower voltage than alkalines, and they might not work as well.

No, just rechargeable. But that is a great idea to try alkaline too and if they a stronger that might be a good idea regardless. Those are cheap at least.

Btw, I occurred to me now, but I am not entirely sure, that even the wired remote that the 9518 came with responded badly. Wired up. So if that is accurate then the reseting U16 on the CLM will be a good idea. Like Tim suggested.
