Can someone verify that the HD 144 lens needs to sit closer to the tube face on a Marquee? The Joust plates are hard to come by and I have a machine shop to make the plates from aluminum stock I have laying around. The web page shows the plate mounting to the back of the original and slots cut into it for the barrel to pass through. If the lens needs to be positioned as the original I could make the plates mount in the stock housing. I see it pivots on 2 pins on the plate. If mounted at the original position I don't remember if there is enough adjustment (coil bind) for proper focus.

Thank You,

Mark

Yes it needs to be closer. I have seen the info somewhere, wanted to do the same thing.
But i currently can't recall where you could look it up, maybe on AVS.
Regards, Julian

hey racer replying to your PM on AVS here since I am here more often. I do not have a full set, I have only one plate I saved to use as a pattern. I could possibly provide a CAD drawing, but work is too busy now to devote any time to making a set. I used to be able to do this but I'm just too tired now to work till 7 or 8 pm and I'm swamped at work thru January Sad

Yes, they need to sit closer by quite a bit. Basically, about .7" inches closer. Look at this pic, this is how my plates work. The factory plate is notched so that the HD145 goes thru with no cutting of the lens. then there is a .2" spacers and the adapter screws to the BACK of the original plate thru the old HD8 mounting holes. The old plate is 1/2" thick, +.2 spacer, = .7" .

I have all the spacers and screws here too.

Draganm,

Thanks for the pictures. I bought some 144 lenses and the mount has been cut/shaved on 4 corners. I also pulled the mounting plates out of a NEC that had 145's. Thought I might machine down the NEC plates to fit behind the Marquee. Not sure if it is worth the time as flat stock aluminum is cheaper than my time. Thanks for the pictures. They help in visualizing the assembly. I'll fire up my AutoCad program and get moving.

Thanks,

MAK

I looked and can't find a CAD file, but I have the CNC codes. This is with the

1) outside of the plate band-sawed rough
2) ganged up and 2 long sides skim cut for parallelism in the vice.
3) CNC mill- This does the 4 counter bored holes ( 8-32 screws to hold plate onto original HD-8 lens screw holes ), and the 4 x 10-24 screws that hold the HD145 down. Last but not least it pops out the center bore for the HD-145 and skim cuts the left/right edges which are the top/bottom of the plate (just for aesthetics).

Program zero is the center of the big hole, all other features are symmetrical.
