Hello everyone !

My BG808 (not S) is starting to Fail (quad likely), I am trying to get a BD808S/E with good tubes working back to put in place (it had no EHT).

I changed the EHT circuitry with an old generation I had in spare (form a 1209 I think)
Quad => R761743
EHT Board => R761742.5 (with modification of the pinout)
Splitter => R7617447

And..It worked !
But the quad tend to arc when too close af the frame... I have a spare R7622091 but doesn't have it right there.
However it works when keeped not too close.

But I have another problem.
When the machine is hot (after +/-1 hour), picture disapeared, and when I tried to power cycle it, I have these LED on the G2/Focus block :
HTHD : Flashing
Conv : Flashing
All other LED green and no Red.
The green on the SMPS sub-board looks like to flash a little (less sure).
And no red light on EHT Board !

But now, the Scan Fail red LED lit.

Without no EHT and Quad connected, problem is identical.
Tried to swap the SMPS and G2/Focus with the BG808, still the same.

If I let the machine cool down, it works agains ! Until it's hot.

I switched the V and H switches and the V looks broken.
I will try to wire it directly.

If you have any ideas :

I think it might be one deflexion board can I swap with the BG808 ones ?
This Barco have good P16 tubes, is there any precaution I can take to avoid a spot burn while playing with deflexion stuff ? (even if internally supposed to be protected)

Thanks !

I'm going to post a video to show the power cycle.

Robin

Check the 17v on the SMPS when this occurs

I'm running it waiting for the fail, the scope is ready.
Before this, I set the +17V to 17.0V. It was over 18V before.

It now react differently.

This picture is unstable (change of global size) and randomly out of focus, changing from dark to bright (G2 or HT unstable ?), then I hear the HT shutting (=> no picture). The EHT LED remains off, no another red LED, all green ok, just the HT shut.

Looks like my EHT or quad doesn't work right ?

You have at least two problems in the set. Scan fail issue could be the vertical board, but more likely is the H output board or the SMPS. I'd bet the H board. Your brightness issue is most likely the splitter or quadrupler. I have stock of everything.

Fine,

I will get my last HT spares this next week-end (doesn-t have it right here) and have a look what I have as deflexion boards and I get back to you to check all this.

Thanks !

Are you saying this all occured after you adjusted the SMPS?

The issue i have found with my Cine 9 and the 17v adjustment is that on one of my SMPS units it varies alot from black screen to white screen and a little bit from cold to hot. So what i was doing is setting the 17v at abit over 17v with a full white screen up, if i did it the way the book says, it would sag down to 16.2v with a bright screen. If you SMPS has issues coming on, then that could be why it was up that far.

Oh yes it was a bit off, 16,8V...
Set it to 17,2V to let a little marge, but no changement in behavior.

I checked the tension on the feedback from the splitter, and I have a very wide of voltages... 30 to 19V !

So I swapped this splitter and put back the one that was in place (new style, so) and I get the Red LED on the EHT module on, right away.
(Maybe old Quad was good after all ? oO)

For the H board, can I swap H Board R76226715 with older R7622675 ?
