using the set up on this and notice the screen will go from square to distorted all of a sudden and then revert back. Also when I hook up with hd fury i get a red screen and can faintly see the blu ray player home screen. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Can you post a pix of the distorted test crosshatch pattern? Sounds like the convergence board is overheating, and is shutting off. Common with the Ampros, they have poor cooling on the heat sinks. Is it floor or ceiling mounted, and are the fans blocked?

You may not be able to use the HDFury with this set. I had nothing but issues trying to use a Fury with a later model 4600. You may need to stick with the BluRay component output via a transcoder to convert to RGBHV.

Thanks Curt,

So I need a transcoder to use this projector? Can I use a component to rgb instead and if not where do I get the transcoder? Also how do I check hours on this projector?

Yes, that's the transcoder, a component to RGB converter. Check the manuals on the site for the Ampros, a bunch of them should have the 'code' list. It's been so long since I've had an Ampro up, I can't remember the code for the hour meter. 30 code maybe? 22?

I've used HDFury with my Ampro 4000 but had to run it into an Extron 202 box to shift it horizontally to get proper colors and picture.

And that didn't work for the 4600 I had at a customer's place, go figure. You can definitely try an Extron box first, as they are cheap on eBay.. so are analog transcoders though.

It is on floor when I tested but packed it back into moving case temporarily. The fans have room behind. I can try and take a pic later. Thanks

I think mine was a Fury3. If I remember (it was 6 years ago or so), he started with a I or II, and upgraded, which made no difference.

I know a guy who had a 4600HD running off a HD Fury through a box 1020 or 1021 can't remember but had zero problems through many sets of tubes. That AmPro probably had more hours on it then all other AmPro's combined Thumbs Up

I believe that Scott (tse) said that early versions of the 4600 had the issue, later versions corrected it.

I ran into three issues with the 4000 and the HDFury1. Flagging at 1080i (top of the picture bent over) no sync at 1440x960/72hz, and dark unusable picture until I shifted it over to the right with the EXTRON box.
