And did you also experience better brightness and sharpness with this stuff, draganm?

yes, but the old coolant that came in the tubes I tested was probably not the best of shape. Stuff turns Yellow over time Sad

TV/Projector: ECP 4500 (Vidikron box), ECP4500+, wanting 07MS/07MTS, evaluating pc soft-blend

Drags: Do you mean the IceClear turned yellow over time or that whatever had been in the tubes before had yellowed and therefore you wondered about the test you did, etc..I'm a bit confused.

cheers,
Matt

BTW, my ECP hasn't been running for some time and, now that it is getting cold out and my wife wants to take to hunkering down on the couch, I gotta' troubleshoot and fix it. More likely, I'll get a 2nd chassis running. While I'm doing that, I'll finally do the [phosphor burn-in vs cooling] tests I started prepping for ~18months ago...

original 70% Ethylene glycol /30% Glycerin turns yellow over time, but it might have been absorbing something from the bellows rather than just the liquid itself.

New stuff? As the market for RPTV and CRT projectors is in fact dead, why would anyone develop this?
I assume it is just something relabeled but quiete interesting to know more about it.
What is it and did anyone try this stuff?
Regards, Julian

While I agree that the market is dead (Strids belief notwithstanding), this probably wasn't "developed". It is most likely a new or recently released product for some other application. Someone thought this could be used in CRTs and repackaged it as such.

Using Nashou's bellows, and giving them a GOOD cleaning before I installed them back in either 2006 or 2008, (I think it was 2006), I didn't change the regular glycol formulation due to murkiness until just a few months ago. I also treated the exposed aluminum with VHT epoxy, which certainly helped.

One Marquee LC assembly takes 22 ounces as measured in a measuring cup. (Volumetric measurement based on the density of water.) You need 66 total ounces for a set of 3.

Glycol, a gallon can be had on ebay for about 32 dollars.
Glycerin, a quart is about 13 dollars on ebay. And you don't need a quart. A pint is about 7 bucks.

Mix ratio: 1 part glycerin, 4 parts glycol.

So buy 2 quarts of glycol for 16 dollars and 1 pint of glycerin for 7 dollars, and for 23 dollars plus the cost of a can of
VHT black epoxy spray paint, you've got a 10 year solution (pardon the pun) for less than the cost of these things you
are experimenting with.

You'll have about 12 ounces left over, which you might store for...forever.

Thanks cm went ahead and ordered the 5 gallons for 77.00 as it has tested well and MP
and dragnan vouch for it. I am sure your solution works well but now I have extra for MP when he comes
so he can do his tubes.

For that price, who wouldn't go for it? I thought it was going to be more expensive than mix-your-own glycol solution.
