Has anyone out there got a spare barco splitter to suit the Barco Cine 8
Currently I have the Quad numbered R762717 also EHT number R7627165

I have 2 splitters here, but the numbers do not marry up with the BARCO bulletin requirements for new frame parts

The splitters I have here have the following numbers on them: 7617447 / 5 and 7617447 / 2
Many thanks

Use either of the splitters, they are identical electrically throughout the Barco series (except for the very old BArco 400/600) regardless of the part number.

I didn't. Barco did when they put in that service bulletin: old splitter + new EHT + new quad + new frame = oscillation.
If the splitters are all same, than it seems like Barco put different part numbers just so they could charge more for them Shocked

All of the splitters inclusive of the 800 series and beyond seem to be interchangeable. I think we have already covered this.

just reporting back in regard to the splitter, all is working, been running for about 6 hours now no smoke, no excessive heat, no fireworks of any kind.......so far, Curt the Guru is most certainly right in his assessment of the splitter situation, but conflicting official BARCO service bulletin information can certainly be a recipe for paranoia to a novice, so it would seem that "In curt we trust" ( seem to remember that as a biblical quotation.....can't remember the fellas name though) Smile

Anyway for Hulio, I imagine that you will be glad to hear everything so far is good and things seem to be coming together.

Hulio, Casey, Curt, or whoever,

You mention the "so called inconpatibility" memorandum in the Barco bulletin, in particular with reference to:

old splitter + new EHT + new quad + new frame = oscillation. what would I be seeing in terms of oscillation

For instance what would it look like on say...Rolling credits, would I see like a vertical wave motion as the text rolled up the screen?

Trev

I am just trying to find out if I have got this disease.

Not sure how that oscillation will behave in terms of picture quality Trev. In electronic components, oscillation means fluctuation above and under a nominal value. Since all ( or almost all ) splitters have the same construction, my theory is that the only difference could be in the treshold that potmeter on the splitter is set at. It's a factory preadjusted pot and gives feedback to the EHT ( trough that thin white wire ) how much power has to be generated.
But again, it is just a theory. Since others with a lot of practical experience in parts interchangebility did not encountered any problem at all, maybe is is safe to say that the so called oscillation does not harm the projector.
Maybe those vertical waves motions have to do with something else. On AC machines, people often are complaining about streaking during white rolling credits on a black background.
