Hello,

In the room where I want to install my Barco 808G I can place the projector only against one wall while the screen is placed against the other wall. Distance between wall is around 6.80m.

Now I have 2 m wide screen. According the manual, the projector should be placed then somewhere in the middle of the room (3.80m from the screen) in order to cover the screen completely...However, I would like to project from a 5.80 meter distance instead from the recommended 3.80. If I do this, the projected image will obviously far to large for the 2m screen.

Is there a way to work-around this, that is project from a 5.8m distance on a 2 meter wide screen and having the complete image on the screen?

CRT projectors only have one correct throw distance if you want to optimize phosphor usage on the tube faces.

Install too far back and you end up shrinking the image on the tube faces to compensate which results in accelerated tube wear and less light output.
Install too close and you won't be able to get a large enough image.

The third page (http://www.curtpalme.com/TubeCondition_PoorInstall.shtm) has the correct steps to figure out throw distance for any CRT projector. Don't use the manual.

There is no way around it, there's no long throw lenses for CRT that will work for you.

I suppose the real question is: Why do you need or want to place the projector further back than optimum?
