|
|
So there was a power outtage and my Ampro 2600hd lost it's convergence
I re did the convergence (I'm a pro now lol) and all was well, but about 10 minutes into watching the red tube suddenly loses convergence as well.
Do I need to do a full setup again? I've used the thing for hours at a time (watching sunday football all day) and no problems
Any ideas?

It's such a weird phenomenon
Just tried it again and got like 40 minutes into a program an then suddenly out of no where the red Vertical convergence (shift, pin cushion, keystone) drops out but the percentages are still locked in so I can't move them back up.
Switching inputs sets it straight again for like 5 minutes and then it happens again. The PJ has literally been perfect thus far too, I use it every night
Baffled

ok think i solved it!
I redid the complete set up and the red was WAY out of whack with the green and blue. i was using a Red V Skew of about 90% to line it up. My guess it that the poor old Ampro was just having too hard a time holding such an extreme skew, because I refocused and realigned it all (almost nice to have a freshly focused PJ!) and the skew it now about 1% off from the other two and it's been running for about an hour and a half without issue.
Another way to tell this that I've noticed is when throwing a test image up, none of the lines are "shaky" which implies to me at least that the PJ isn't working too hard.
hopefully this is informative to someone!!

Yes, thanks. It just goes to show how important an accurate and optimum setup is. The need to overdrive any component of a setup probably indicates fundamental problems with the projector or more than likely the mechanical setup of the projector itself.
The big question is - what did the power outage do to cause this? Is it just a coincidence. Either way you've got to ask yourself why was the pj working before the power outage anyway - surely the red would have been equally misaligned at this time also? Surely the power outage couldn't just shift all the geometry settings for red? Weird.

Might be other way around that the projector caused the power outage. In the whole block!

Ok so that's been on my mind all morning lol, here's my theories:
1) there wasn't an actual power outtage, my AV stuff is plugged into the wall next to the cable outlet and they're upgrading the cable in our apartments and maybe they turned off that plug (in which case arrrgghhh)
2) since the battery backup in my unit has long since failed (i get a mem failure if i shut it off and lose the convergences) it could have reset the board that keeps the red in sync with the green? Causing the red to revert back to it's physical dead point? when i opened the unit I gave all the wires a but of a nudge just in case.
3) this was inevitably going to happen and the convergences resetting just accelerated the matter?
4) ghooooooooossssssttttt
Either way, I have an impromptu day off today so I'll throw some video on it and check, it's my only TV so it ends up getting quite a bit of use every night as is

Number two sounds most feasible off all those. That's why red might have seemed so far out of whack.
When you redid the whole setup blue should have been just as far out as red to begin with. But thats still assuming your rasters are centred and Screen and Pj and Lens aim are all spot on.

I'm pretty sure now that iwt was number 2
and I wish I could tell you why my blue wasn't out of sync but it was perfect, cutting the red crt and just running blue and green yielded a perfectly synced/focused image, albiet without any red haha
and I doubt my rasters are centered, I try my best but even my blue and reds aren't the same distance from the screen (from what I can tell) but it's still a crystal clear image...I'd need someone like y'all to come and make it any better...and I'm not exactly running a great setup, the ampro is on the floor under my coffee table and my stewart screen is up against the wall (too lazy to mount haha) but hey it's a pretty sweet set up for my apartment!

If your battery is dead/weak, replace it. You can simply use 2 AA batteries and a holder, although the original batteries are probably still available. The battery isn't charged by the board, it's simply there to supply backup power when the set is shut off.
Definitely with any Ampro, a good mechanical setup is crucial to use little convergence, which keeps the set stable. A hot Ampro convergence output board is an unhappy Ampro convergence board.

and where i could get one / what holder to use
