|
|
Hi guys!
I've finally managed to complete my setup with the new Sony VPH-1041Qm, i've got the whole setup including ceiling mount and remote unit and the cables.
But here is the thing, at the moment i've got my video sources connected to a Marmitek powered video switch. It supports composite, S-video and euroscart as both input and outputs. The output goes as S-video into the remote and through that cable transferred to the beamer at the ceiling.
The resolution is fairly ok, could be a bit sharper but with 2.25 meters wide it looks good. Here is the thing:
My xbox 360 puts out and RGB signal through the euroscart connector, it enhanced the picture a lot and now it is usable thorugh the s-video input. But my question is should i use a line doubler with this setup or not? It could enhance the picture even more and result into a sharper image when using the rgb signal sources. The Extron Xi series take in composite and s-video and output rgbhv bnc so that will work with the projector.
But if i would use a line doubler, should i place it after the remote unit? or should i direct the video source straight from the switcher to the line doubler and then to the beamer?
I'm trying to find some information about this but all scenario's i can find do not include the remote unit, here are the devices i use:
Xbox 360, Pioneer LD 300, N64 and Philips VCR connected to the Marmitek 4:1 powered Video switch through S-video or RGB Euroscart where possible.
The Marmitek Connects through S-video into the Sony VPR-722S Line 1 S-video in and transfers the signal to the Sony VPH-1041QM.
Sorry for the long post! i tried to explain as best as i can what i'm looking at
The Line Doubler i'm thinking about is the Extron Lancia Xi.
Thank you for your help! i can provide pictures when i'm at home if needed

The doubler can't be used because the 1041 only supports a video and Svideo signal, not a higher resolution RGB one. Work with that set, enjoy it, but look for a data grade CRT once you get tired of the 1041.

Hi Curt,
Thanks, i am enjoying the set definetly! but then i wonder what kind of input it supports on its rgbhv connectors? it has a data connection RGBHV signal located on the front. And the remote has 3 inputs, 1 is composite and/or s-video, 2 is composite only and 3 switched to the rgbhv leads on the beamer itself?

It supports a video resolution via the RGB inputs, 320 X 240. Back in the day, that was considered 'high resolution'.
It is almost a straight connection to the tubes, but still limited to the scan rate of the projector.

That explains alot! well i've still got a dos machine to hook up from an old arcade machine i had
But the manual isn't very clear about what it can handle on that part:
Color System: Pal, SECAM, NTSC and NTSC 4.43 systems
Resolution: 1,000 TV Lines (RGB Inputs) 650 TV Lines (Video Input)
RGB Inputs: Character Display capacity: 2000 Characters (80 letters x 25 lines)
Horizontal Frequency: 15.75 Khz
Vertical Frequency: 50/60 Hz
The original cable used for that one was the SME-506, it went from RGBHD to a 25 pin male RGB Multi out.
Still fun to tinker around with! got a few machines from the same time era so that should be compatible. To bad though, i misunderstood the manual so i thought it was able to accept a higher resolution that the regular video inputs. but that is fine for me to! guess i'll save some money for not buying the special rgbhv euroscart syncblaster cable
apart from that i do like this machine alot! the tubes have almost no wear at all and after fitting the new screen it works very well
