One year later ....

Craig has been back, at my request last year and his suggestion this year, and has finished a weekend session.
In short - exemplary* work from a wonderful person.

It's hard to say too many good things about Craig's attention to detail, insistence upon perfection, years of experience, continuing to stay up with the newest knowledge and his willingness to do what it takes to make it all come together.

Additional shout to Jim and all at Lumagen.
Answering the phone late on a Friday night is something NO other manufacturer would do. Even my kids wouldn't answer my call at that time .... Smile

Reference - G90, Lumagen, Oppo 105, HLD-X0, Moome, 96" wide Stewart, etc.

Service included a new Lumagen 2144 to replace a Radiance XE.
The 2144 included Craig's own Lumagen-produced 3-D hardware and software. Waycool and quite effective.

Every visit and email/phone call with Craig results in a noticeably better image. This most current effort simply followed history - everything was set up, checked and finished in a manner that only a few people can achieve, whatever their area of expertise.

And he now has a gorgeous son. I have no doubt that Andrew will present more challenges and better results than ANY video setup has ever required. Congratulations and best wishes.

Thanks once again, Craig.
Cool

I must agree. Craig is OFF THE CHARTS when it comes to knowing his craft and getting the most out of a video chain!!!! I am always amazed at his abilities and love to watch him work. When he was at my house, there was problem with my set up installing my Radiance 3D. It was also late on a Wednesday night and Jim (Lumagen) immediately answered the phone. After some diagnosing, they both agreed it wasn't the Radiance. He next dialed up Mike Parker so he could relay him the schematics of the BA board over the phone. While holding the phone against his ear with his shoulder, Craig removed the tiniest of pieces from my BA board with his soldering iron and then reapplied them to re-route the video path away from the fault. This all took place in LESS THAN AN HOUR!!!!! He popped my BA board back into the set and he was then off to the races with finishing the setup.

I can't say enough about the great professionals who are a part of this forum!!! They are amazing!!!!

Oh, and that Curt guy? He's is pretty cool also!!!

So in case you guys were wondering, it is this theater that we're talking about:
https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=34957.html

Only this time Hunter had all the hardware setup and I brought a couple of my current favorite records to spin on his system... all I can say is WOW!!! The freaking MBL speakers were totally out of this world. I am sure the entire system played a role, but I have NEVER heard anything even close to this. The life, accuracy, and imagery are simply amazing; breathtaking really. I still can clearly feel what I heard when I think back on it, that's how big an impression the sound left on me. It's just so amazing.

One strange this is to walk between the two speakers when they are playing. The imagery effect directly between the speakers actually made me get vertigo.

Hunter, it's always a please to come work for you. You are really a most gracious host and even when things go wrong (cough) I still always have a lot of fun and also learn more about sound at your place.

I was also really impressed with the Lumagen upgrade to the 2144. The almost total lack of gitter really polished up the image on your G90. I really do appreciate the high praise from you. You're a perfectionist I'd say, so compliments comming from you mean a lot!

Doc, I also appreciate the compliments from you. That day at your place (was it last time because if it was that was too long ago) with all the soldering and modifying the BA board was quite an event.

And yup, my son is now almost four months old already.

No Curt, you are a lot nicer than I am Embarassed In any event, the next time you go to Texas, let me know because I bet Hunter would be happy to audition his system for you (notice how I volunteered you Hunter Wink).

On a side, I also got to work for another regular client while in Houston with his new Samsung 65" 4k flat panel and Lumagen 2144. I have to say the Samsung 4k sets just keep improving and that even the same models are getting better with time as they revise the hardware. The 3D on those things is now really awesome. And really bright too. Default backlight on those sets for 3D is "20" and I turned it down to "12" because that was more than bright enough!

Best regards to all and thanks so much for your support.

Thanks guys Smile

Things are going well with Andrew. Sometimes I'm amazed how easy it is compared to what people warned me about... Other times I want to pull out what's left of my hair!!!

He's a lot of fun though and it's quite a change.

Yeah, like when they wake up 3 times between 11pm and 6am. Just had two consecutive nights where he slept 6-8 hours straight. Was about ready to trade my Marquee for some sleep:-)

OMG, .... the wonderful bliss of ignorance.
You really are a first time parent and still way wet behind the ears.

Craig, I know I've told you at least twice - this is the (only) easy time*. You have some feeling of control (more than you realize; just wait about 17 years).

The warnings are from people who know what's coming around the next bend.
>>> DON'T GET COCKY <<<

To be fair - Craig and Virginia are going to be wonderful parents. Andrew is one of the lucky ones.
As to the "stud" part ... time will tell. Cool

Congrats, again.

Don't talk too much schit!!! One of kids favorite words to learn is, "NO, I don't want to!" Also teenage years are fun.

Our daughter had colic. She did not sleep for more than 45 minutes for the first 6 months. We had no family close by, so it was fun; NOT!!!! Now, a freight train going by her head will not wake her up.

Hope to see you guys soon.

We are lucky because Andrew has been a good sleeper right from the start. In the beginning he only ever woke up twice per night and for the past month and a half he has only been waking up once most of the time. At night he goes to sleep and stays that way. Sometimes he goes too long even 11+ hours on occasion. Granted, there have been some bad days and a few bad nights, but we are lucky and I know it.

hey, I may be wet behind the ears, but I have said from the start that I am most worried about adolescence and late teens. I went from a good little boy to a total hell raiser and was always in trouble. What scares me even more were all the things that I didn't get caught doing and that my parents never found out about. I am not kidding when I say it's a miracle that I am not dead 10x times over.

I really hope that Andrew gets more of Virginia's personality traits than mine. He'll be a lot safer and a lot happier than me if he does Wink... not that Virginia is any angel either!

Well, you mentioned to me that you were putting together a list for your older sons regarding your AMAZING record collection, for after you are gone... honestly, I don't know if I would rather have the speakers or the records, but based on what you've shown me I think I would actually prefer the record collection. You're collection is so incredible and I haven't even seen anywhere near the half of it. Seriously, you should open a museum.
