hey

i got myself a tomb raider underworld copy for mac and can play it on my beamer now Smile) HAHA

anyway, my picture is much too dark in comparison with the picture at my notebook. (i wont find sh*t in this darkness lol )

i had my troubles getting the picture less dark without setting the brightness up to no good. i dont think i can do too much with the black kelvin as now i just got black as black. i allready increased the brightness inside the game, but without great results

any suggestions please. its a nec 6pg plus

ps: you can hook up any playstation controller via usb (ps1 and 2 need a adapter for it (10$), just to let you know)

TV/Projector: All of them!

Chances are the video output level of the computer is too low. Get an Extron or Inline RGB booster box, they are cheap on eBay. Put it between the computer and the projector and boost up the input signal. Use a test pattern to set the level.

Or, you can crank up the brightness level on the NEC. Again, use a test pattern to reference perfect blacks, but for gaming, you may need to elevate the blacks anyway.

I have a couple of those. They are great.

I had to do this with my D50. The PS2 was way to dark. I bought an external Extron Quad Decoder like this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Extron-CD-900-Digital-Quad-Standard-Decoder-60-355-01-/151391864420?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item233fa88664

fixed the dim image right up

You can make a new collour profile for the display with the calibration tool on the mac it lets you correct the image looking at a test pattern. Things like brightness gamma and colour temp.

Nice tipon the ps controller going to try that!

Set it as high as you need to, the tubes will probably out last the rest of the set.

TV/Projector: Marquee 9501LC / NEC 9PG+

Personally I found with my pg anything over 70% contrast/ brightness (I used 60% and 50% respectively). I found any more and I had an over saturated image and defeated anything I was trying to do. In my mind set both bright and contrast as close as you can to 50% and use external sources to correct (I have a box 1040 which worked wonders on gamma - seeing stuff in the dark). As stated above a mac and most windows video cards have settings that can be messed with. Play with those before adding anything else.

My PG+ projected an awesome and sharp image. It's only limitation was doing 1080i vs 1080p on my marquee. If I could have done 1080p I never would have moved up to the marquee... though I love it too. lol

If you look at my album, you'll see most screen shots are of the PG+ in a room with daylight bleeding through the blinds. If it's too dark, somethings wrong. My games were brighter than the movies (all done through PS3).

Current Projector Marquee9501LC with PS3 (BLu-Ray) at 1080P LOVE IT! Screen is an Elunevision 120" 4:3 (2.4 gain - no hotspots). (also own a NEC 9PG+)
