After re-tubing my PJ I have been working on the focus and I have found that I can't get the red or blue to focus uniformly across the screen. It would seem that the lenses need to be either towed in or out. If I get the left side focused on the red the right side is just a touch out of focus. the same is true for the blue only opposite . While some PJs have the ability to tow the lenses slightly the 1252 does not seem to have that ability. Has anyone used shims to correct that? Or if not, is there another way to make that adjustment?
TIA,
Tim

Are the plastic lens spacer rings still intact on your machine? If that spacer ring is still there, there are three different detents on the lens mount, and a nipple on the lens shim. There's one for a small screen, medium, and large. For a 96x54 (110-inch diagonal) 16:9 like I had, it put the projector right in the range where it was the ideal throw for the "M" CRT spacers and lens spacer rings. The focus was dead-on side-side. What screen size are you using, and how are those lens spacers set?
I set up a 1252 at a buddy's house on a smaller screen… I think it was about 80 or 84, and that put the toe-in angle and focus pretty close to the bottom of the "M" range. We did the spring/spacer mod (see below), and then I found some thin nylon washers to shim the lenses a bit to nail the focus down. So, yes - it is possible.

I may have the right spacers here still. I threw a bunch out since no one ever needed them, but let me know what size you need.

SC,
Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. Just got my PC running. The MB died last week and I did a refresh on it.(New MB, New RAM. and a i7 Intel 4675 processor AND a SSD boot drive-what a difference!) and I was too busy at work to check back. Thanks for the info. The focus rings are intact and set to small. I have a 82" diagonal Stewart screen that is 100" from the center of the screen to the front of the lens. YIKES! Its not supposed to be that far!!! I can't believe I just discovered that
So am I even in the range of the lens spacers if change them to medium? I have a mount that puts my screen out about 6-8" from the wall to give it a floating effect, so I could move it out more. I am NOT moving the PJ mount. Wow, there went any credibility I may have had. I am embarrassed.
The distance for an 80" screen is 91 5/8" in the Sony manual from the lens to the center of the screen. A 100" screen requires 112 5/8". Based on those numbers it works out to be 1 1/16" per diagonal 1" screen size, which would be 93 3/8" for my 82" screen. Should I also change the spacers to medium? I guess I'll know if they still won't focus with the adjusted distance. Thoughts?
TIA,
Tim
