Hello all.
Re the subject line: Weight of an 808 minus lenses, tubes and boards?
Since my first crt pj I have a worsened back injury. I can't lift these things whole anymore. However being a Barco I can take the lenses off, take the tubes out and take all the boards out and lift the chassi with someone elses help, on it's own. These are the only circumstances under which I could upgrade to an 808.
I'm hoping it's gonna be under 25kg but please advise me either way.
Many thanks in advance,
Simon

Barco is very modular, basically you can pull out all boards in about 5 min. Also get the convergence tray out, without the plastic case the bare frame is probably under 25kg, and you can reassemble the machine easily.

Some parts you can, but some parts no.

If you remove the lenses tubes convergence tray and remove all of the boards and plastic covers one person could easily move the chassis. That's how I move mine.

Thanks for the replies guys. It's good to know I'm along the right lines. Only way we'll get closer is someone with scales. Anyone?

A very heavy element that can easily be removed before lifting the projector is the bottom plate.
It must loosen all the screws around the plate.

I chopped my 808 frame to get it bit lighter.

Nice one guys! Thanks for the replies and pictures. Just need to look for a nice Graphics 808 in the UK now. Also really need to think if I want to make the effort. I'd definitely want colour correction on red and green so would have to sort that out. I'd like to stick with CRT while there is some life left there and it's now so affordable. Not sure if my health is up to it at the moment though.
