Have a Sony 1272 using rgb connections & a Sony Switcher.

I want to drop Direct TV and use a over the air antenna for local channels.
Do I need a special type of converter or box? Not sure how this works and would hook up in my system.

I'm keeping my Roku 2 for most viewing. Thanks

I plan on building a media pc for my home theater and selling the tuner box(already have the pc done just have to hook it up)

I will sell the tuner if you want it I paid 150 for it new and it works great it uses hdmi or component video for the HD outputs

Let me know

Very few here. I have one from PHD but it died in a year. Probably bad caps Rolling Eyes Most have HDMI out or Component. A simple Component to RGBHV transcoder will work here.

This tuner is popular and has component out: http://www.amazon.com/Mediasonic-HW-150PVR-HomeWorx-Converter-Recording/dp/B00I2ZBD1U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1405563331&sr=8-1&keywords=homeworks+tuner

Also has a USB port that you can use to record to an external hard drive.

They can be used with an Analog TV via Composite for SD, Component for HD, or if your old TV had DVI/HDMI you can use that too.
You can also plug it into a Digital TV via component or HDMI. BUT in the case of the original poster, he wanted to know how to add OTA TV to his set up. One of these with a component to RGBHV transcoder should do it.

SO yes, you are right. Those are converter boxes that can be used with analog TV's but they also offer HD out via their HDMI and Component ports.

So for the OP larryP, You would need an Antenna, an antenna cable, ONE of the tuner boxes listed above, a transcoder ( such as the one listed above ) a set of cables to hook it up depending on your set up.

How do you currently have you RokU hooked up? HDMI Composite? etc... are you using any type of digital to analog converter ( Moome, HDFury etc...)?

Which service a referring to watching HD movies on the Roku, Larry? What do you have for bandwidth on your internet service? Is the Roku connected to the internet via wired ethernet or Wi-Fi?

Does your Moome card have 2 HDMI inputs? If so forget the transcoder and go for an HDMI cable and let the Moome do the switching.

I have seen this before also. My friend has a BoxeeBox and found when wired it was many times better.

Hal, you missed the part where he said he has a Moome card in his switcher. If it's the dual input HDMI then he can grab a tuner and an HDMI cable and allow the Moome to do the switching.

Hi Larry, I initially recommended a Kim-coder RTC2200 component to RGBHV transcoder. BUT since you have the dual HDMI input on the Moome card you won't need it.

If I buy a HDMI "ad on box" for more imputs, will the moome card automatically switch to the source I'm using? Right now I have to select input 1 or 2 if I have 2 cables plugged in the inputs
