TV/Projector: All of them!

Here's a new one on me... I am quoting an upgrade of a sound system in a rec centre that's out of town. They have a 20ish year old sound system that consists of 3 amplifiers in a multipurpose room/gym, that splits into 3 separate rooms. Each room has a mic and aux level input jack, pretty standard stuff.

Last year, they added an LCD projector w/HDMI input, and for whatever reason, the guys that installed it, put in a consumer ONkyo receiver with two separate speakers, rather than tying into the existing sound system. Idiots! Smile

So what I want to do is remove the Onkyo receiver. At the front of the gym is a wall mounted HDMI jack, that apparently runs to the ONkyo receiver, then the HDMI cable loops up to the projector, while the receiver picks off the audio and sends it to the two ceiling speakers.

Therefore, what I need is a box with a passthrough HDMI input/output, that converts the audio to analog, so I can feed it to the sound system. The Onkyo does this, but I don't need that in there.

An External Moome box could work, but then I'd need to run an RGBHV cable from the Moome box up to the projector, since it doesn't have an HDMI passthrough. I'd rather use the existing HDMI line.

recommendations?

You probably don't need the switching capability of these, but there's at least one Monoprice 4x HDMI switch that outputs to analog (and digital optical). This would do what you want I think. I have one that splits audio out into a 3.5mm jack, but I'm unable to locate that model on their website anymore. Here's a link to a current one, the only one I can find with analog audio out. http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=101&cp_id=10110&cs_id=1011002&p_id=7112&seq=1&format=2

Probably way more than you need, but I used one here to feed audio from my HDMI devices to a 70s vintage audio receiver's AUX input and feeding video to the projector across the room.

that will do it I think. It will just stay on that one input. hopefully it doesn't glitch, as it will be in the back of a rack.

thanks!

Hi,

Look for "HDMI Audio Extractor" on Amazon. There are tons for small money...
