I have not used my projector in 6 months or more, and when I went to turn it on last night there was nothing. No lights, fans, noise, nothing. I checked to make sure there was power at the plug. Any ideas what might have happened to it. Can I fix it? Thanks

Just to confirm, you powered on the mains switch by the plug then powered it up with the "ON" button on the top panel?

I have always left the main switch on. I usually power it up by just pushing the on button. When it didn't turn on I pushed the main switch button on and off a few times, but nothing.

There is a design flaw in the power supply on the 1252 and 1272 that randomly kills the power supply just as you described. I had it happen to my 1272 back in October.
email Curt ( the site owner ) and see if he has any in stock curtpalme@shaw.ca

Well if you don't find a PS, there's a guy with a G70 on CL in Anaheim asking $900., he's dreaming but no reason you can't offer him a couple hundred bucks

No kidding. At $900, he can just plan on burying himself in the case and save some money on the casket.
If I were selling a G70 at this point, if I got $350 for a mint one, I'd be thrilled. If it has some wear, but has all the accessories and such, I'd be happy to get a couple hundred bucks. If the green is worn and/or it's missing accessories, then I'd be happy to have somebody drive across town to take it so I didn't have to move the damn thing myself.

Curt thinks he may have a power supply, I will know next week. Is this something I can replace myself? Anyone have direction on doing a PS replacement.

It does. It's only two screws to demount it as I recall, but then there are several harnesses attached. I think you need to remove the lenses also… From memory, you loosen PSU, slide it out ~6 inches, remove the lenses, then you can get at the LVPS and HV regulator board.
I don't remember ever completely pulling the LVPS, so I can't remember whether a harness unplugs right at the LVPS, or whether the LVPS has a harness attached. Either way, I imagine the project shouldn't be too difficult for anybody with decent tools and basic mechanical skills. The only thing special I think you need is a long screwdriver to be able to remove the blue lens - next to the HV block. Probably wouldn't be a fun project for a first-timer if it's ceiling-mounted.

So the fun continues. I was able to pull the LV power supply without to much trouble. I did have to unhook several wire harnesses, but did not need to remove any lenses. I love how modular everything seems to be inside these projectors. Anyway I decided to open up the power supply case and low and behold I found what looks like a little fried resistor on the first board in the line. I took a great picture of it. Do you think this is the problem? Does it mean I have bigger problems somewhere else? Thanks all for the help. It is kind of fund trouble shooting.

you most likely have other issues. Resistors never overheat without there being another problem somewhere. Still, I'll bet it's isolated to a problem within the power supply.
back in town now, but backed up for a few days returning emails and such. I'm pretty sure I do have a replacement supply.
