I have a Sim2 Teatro SVP 450 plus. Issues lately:
Recently, Curt sent me 3 used HD145 lenses to replace my TAC lenses. I installed, aligned, converged, all looked great.
The last 5 times I've tried to use the projector, I've had various symptoms and problems. I doubt it has anything to do with the different lenses:
-Projector runs fine, then picture goes out. Projector unresponsive, power off, back on, goes into Standby, but does not turn on. Wait overnight. Turns back on in the morning. Works a little while then something similar happens again.
-Other occasion, running fine, then picture goes crazy, appears like it loses all its convergence, then picture goes completely off after about 10 seconds. Unresponsive as before.
-Last night, worked fine for about 15 minutes, then picture froze. All controls unresponsive. Power down, turn on, goes into Standby mode but will not turn on. This morning, again, in standby mode but unresponsive.
Fans are running, so I don't think it's a heating issue due to fans. It has a "time delay" fuse, but not sure if that is it since it powers up to Standby mode each time.
Any suggestions Question

sounds like a control board issue.

remove the board and see if there are any daughter boards on it and any removable chips( socketed) . Clean all the contacts to those boards and all boards just to be sure.

wow, a Sim2 Teatro SVP 450 plus, what heck is that? Smile Had to look it up, looks like another rare, Italian built CRT PJ, like the vidikron Kronos. I'm guessing your in Italy?

Surprised There's even a user manual on line.

It's such a shame that people in EU are struggling ot use stuff like this when people in the US are throwing out 10X times better machines
Sad

I'm actually in Az. Picked this up cheap. It's been my "learning machine." You'd be surprised at the picture. Plays 1080i pretty nicely. It might even play Italian movies better. Haven't tried that Smile

I also have a 9" Barco when I want to get serious.

Been a long time but I think I had a couple of these and sent them to Curt. IF I remember correctly, they have a crappy power supply right under the front of the tubes. The first thing I would do is pull that board and inspect it for obvious damage. One of the ones I had here looked like someone stuck a welding rod through the power supply. Look for swollen caps and or over heated areas on the board.

HD 800 is in different league,..I have 3 of svp 350 / 350+ if anyone close to Finland needs parts,,the build quality on these is a far cry from for example sonys or barcos..
