Hi Guys,
I replace the green tube in my XG75. The Original is P16LJE08HKA. The one I put in is a P16LJE07HKA. With the 07 tube I cant get the tube to shut off. With picture mute on the raster is still lit. its a blurry looking raster and has very light retrace lines or flyback lines. Has anyone done this before or seen this problem? I am thinking the screen voltage needs to be dropped slightly. I have had a play with the G2 setup as per the directions from Curt. No adjustment with bring the tube to black. Put the old tube back in and there is no problem. The 07 tube has no wear so I would like to get it to work.
Thanks,
Greg

I do recall reading that a neck board mod may be required if swapping between certain tube #'s.

Like this- http://www.curtpalme.com/Sony_G70_Tube_Swap10.shtm

Have a search and you should find something NEC specific...

Edit: Here's a couple of threads discussing differences if you haven't found em already-

Thanks,
I have had a good look into this. The neck board is setup as per the mod. Both KH are joined together and have a 3.9 Meg resistor to Gnd. I went through the paper work that came with the projector and found that the tubes were changed by NEC in 2002. The invoice has the replacement tubes as XG1350G tubes. Part number 952r4631
I am thinking that the original tubes were P16LJE07 and NEC replaced them with P16LJE08 tubes. No sticker inside to say use the 08 tubes only. I think Curt and Mark A W correct and I may have a fault in the tube. I will leave the tube in for now and see how it goes.
Greg.

Did you turn down the settings in KELVIN menu?

Tell me something else, when the set is on, look into the tube face with no lens on the green, turn off with remote. Do you see a ball appear on the tube face and slowly shrink away?

Yes there is a circle spinning in the centre of the screen when its shut down. You can even see it on the screen.
I have turned the settings in the Kelvin down and get a good picture. The blacks are now black and only the picture is lit not the raster.
My main concern is that the Green tube stays on when picture is mute is on and the flying circle spinning in the centre of the screen when shut down. I not sure if this will cause damage or not. so far not.
I have also refitted the old tube and the problem is not there.
Greg.

Tube is contaminated. You might be lucky enough to have itcleared with a tube rejuvenator, or even tapping on the neck.

It wont harm anything, and having it still lit with pic mute is neither here nor there ( they all stay on, it doesnt turn them off ). If you can get it black by dropping KELVIN then just use it, it may even go away eventually.

The blue tube in my CineMAX is like that, the gain and cutoff are set at less than 20 and less than 10.
