I was looking to upgrade my main HT speakers so I was doing some internet surfing and came accross this link:
http://www.diysoundgroup.com/waveguide-speaker-kits/fusion-series-kits/fusion12-kit.html
Based on the reviews, people seam to really love this speaker compared to some of the other DIY speaker kits offered on this site as well as meniscus and Parts express kit offerings. This speaker has a horn compression driver and I always associated that with cheap home audio speakers and sound reinforcement speakers. Has anybody herd these speakers and if so, what was your impression.

I haven't heard them myself, but I've researched them extensively. From talking to an owner, they're very impressive, not that far off a few commercial speakers costing three-four times the price. Not to be hyperbolic, but going on what I've heard and read, and knowing the quality and cost of the components, I think it would be difficult to buy new commercial speakers that sounded comparable without at least tripling your budget. If I had a larger room with an AT screen and proscenium so I could put them behind the screen, I'd have already built them and put them in my room.
Keep in mind compression drivers aren't only used in sound reinforcement and pro audio because they're efficient and can be directed with waveguides. They're also extremely sensitive, able to reproduce very subtle details in sounds and music. Some guys call it micro-dynamics. There are some very high-end, very high-fidelity speaker designs based on compression drivers.
I think you might find interesting a thread I started last fall about doing some upgrades on my system:

What do you have for speakers now, and what are you powering them with? What's your room like? Any acoustic treatments?
Cheers,
SC

Sorry for replying late. I had tax and spring cleaning issues to deal with. My room is 12'x20' and my TV and speakers are on the long wall. One end of the short wall is the fireplace and the other is the opening to the kitchen. I'm using Madisound Solo speakers for the Main L & R. I don't have the room for the rear speakers and I don't have the center channel hooked up. I have two 12" subs, each in it's own cabinet. I have a bash 500 plate amp on one and a Chinese amp on the other one. Both purchased at Parts Express. I'm seriously thinking of getting a room addition to create a home theater room since the interest rates are still low.
