Have you checked that the white uniformity and bright uniformity is set to midpoint under the REF. adjustments, also check if the blue electronic focus and astigmatism is even.

Dont ever zero anything in REF ADJUST.

Dont touch anything in there other than raster shift til youve got the mechanical sh** set properly.

What kind of screen are you using? Can you see the change in brightness on the tube face from one side to the other? If I remember correctly, some of the white uniformity/brightness uniformity settings should NOT be at midpoint, they should be at 0. I haven't had an XG set up in a while, someone that has a running XG might want to verify that.

If you haven't done a signal entry and gone into the color balance menu, then save the settings once the tubes normal out with the AKB line, one tube being brighter than another is pretty common.

Case, they are perfectly safe to use, you can easily see by eye what is the optimal setting for them.

@Curt: you are right, I think the bright uniform should be at 0 (left most position)

You can apply this rule to women as well, problem is that most men don't pay attention to this rule. Mr. Green
