Well at this time last year actually two days from now I ordered Dual PB1000's and I love them.

But I got a news letter form SVS the other day abut the new 2000 series. I knew about their
full credit refund if you upgrade with in a year. I thought i passed it, but I found the invoice and it
was on the 11th. So I bit the bullet and ordered the dual PB2000's

I spoke with Ed Mullen and he seemed more excited about me getting the subs that I am!!
He said these will double the performance of the PB1000's in my large 4000 cu ft room.

SVS 12" High Output Driver
Designed from scratch—and optimized through exhaustive testing until it delivered unprecedented performance we were after—the all new 2000-series driver does us proud. Matched and maximized to its Sledge amplifier, it effortlessly delivers the STA-500D’s precision, dynamic flexibility and raw punch. The result: the all-new driver delivers higher output, improved linearity and lower distortion. Which means loads of clean, precise, deep powerful bass for your movies and music.

All-new, exhaustively tested design.
Computer FEA-optimized motor for even lower distortion.
Heavy-duty voice coil for extreme power handling.
Upgraded suspension for improved linearity and control.
Lightweight aluminum cone delivers high efficiency.
Rubber surround for excellent durability and long-life.

Very Happy

Yeah SVS is a sweet company.

The way the refund works is your suppose to return the subs before the year date. But ed let me slide and said I just order the new subs and pay in full. He said he'd even let me set up the new subs under their 45 day trial period . If i don't want them I send them back and pay shipping. If i do decide to keep them, which I know I will, i send back the PB1000's and they credit my CC the full price I paid for the PB1000's

So for little money you could actually upgrade each year of you wanted to!!!

Cool! Pretty reasonable priced as a pair. Let us know what you think when you get them set up!

Whatever you do, don't run all four at the same time. Wink

I was thinking more along the lines of the fact that he wouldn't be able to send the others back… But, yes - four subs would be capable of some pretty healthy SPL.

?? I'm missing something. Why would running all 4 (assuming you had amps to do it) prevent you from sending back one pair?

Oh -- do you mean it would just be so freakin' awesome that he wouldn't be able to part with any of 'em? Laughing

wow, you guys are actually running normal out of the box sub-woofers? I thought for sure the nutters on this forum would all build their own infinite baffle set-ups? Crabb didn't you post yours on AVS long time ago? 4 x 12" drivers with custom 2x 4 frame into and adjoining basement space?

I remember someone actually cut a hole in the Oak floor of their upstairs living room and used that as the baffle? Shocked

the 1K's were $500. each and the 2K's are $1000. each, so even with full trade in credit it's still a grand for the pair. Not exactly cheap but people piss away a lot more than that on HT's
I paid $1K for my single Quad 12" SW with 300 watt amp, but it's a musically accurate sub as opposed to just a giant boomer

Don't know who you're thinking about, but it wasn't me building IB. That sh*t is crazy… Cutting holes between conditioned and unconditioned spaces… Lord, no thanks.

I did build my own subs, because I could build two high-performance subs for less money than one decent commercial mid-range sub. It takes some work, but you can end up with some truly amazing results for not a lot of money.

Personally, the IB approach holds zero appeal to me. I have a wife and two kids, so isolation is far, far more important to me than ultimate performance. While I completely respect what others do with IB setups, I have no interest in sinking thousands of dollars into a setup that requires extensive modifications to the structure. I just don't like the approach.

The subs I built are flat to well below 20hz in-room, and clean well into the SPL range that matches my mains. If I drop down from reference level a little, then I have good output down into the 15 hz range. They're sealed alignments using Dayton 15-inch reference drivers, really good amps, and an EQ, so they're excellent for HT, but I also load a different EQ setting into memory, and they're very musical.

While it's far from a "high-end" sub setup, it's very respectable, and I spent almost a third of what most people spend on one really high-end sub like a Seaton Submersive or JTF Captivator.

All I know is that Once you buy an SVS sub I think you'll be a customer for life.

Cant wait to set up the new sub's. I will most likely also co locate the PB1000 on top of the PB 2000's just to see how it sounds
in that type of set up. Wink

What I might do Is keep a PB 1000 and place it where the Amp is and put the center on top and run the Center line level to the PB 1000 and cross it over at 80 hz. So the center gets the Deep base it deserves.
