My neighbors got a SONY KV36FV310 36" direct view TV.

It does the following:

Powers ON
relay clicks
degausing coil fires
set powers off.

Ideas?

See I thought it might be that but I had a quick look and didn't see any of those IC's on the power board.

BTW Mac, good to see you back!

I pulled the schematic and there should be 2 of them. 1 in the power supply and one on the deflection board I think. I can give you location numbers if you want so you can verify if you do have them or not.

Hi Mac, I just finished changing out the 2 ic's. When we plugged the TV in we had a green flash in the vicinity of the ic600.
No power up, no glow on the back of the tube and no degausing coil firing. I suspect the ic600 blew when we plugged the TV in to the mains.

Is there anything else I can look at that would cause a new MCZ3001DB to blow up?

Also we are now getting 5 flashes from the power light.

OK went back and changed the ic600, and the socket it was in just in case. Also checked the ic 8002, and changed it as well.

TV relay clicks, set doesn't turn on and power light flashes 5 times.

Should I just replace them all? Do you have the parts list?

I wish i could give you a correct answer here but I do not know. We are just working with what we know. The MCZ's are known failure parts and they are also known to take out some of these parts. But it doesn't mean there could not be other damaged parts. If things were that easy it would be a wonderful world, LOL. Laughing

I am sure you have seen some of my other post of things I have repaired and the parts pile that was required.

Yep you keep at it.

Do you have the values of those parts? I may have to just start replacing them as I don't have a way to test the capacitors.

Also what are the Q600 and Q601?
