Mmm... the possibilities!

16' X 23'

Started up front. Going to put the screen in that angled deep area up front there.

okay, you angled teh right side to matach the left, and angled teh left to get around the door. but what is behind the door and how on earth to expect to get to it after the drywall goes on those studs?

those shleves behind the screen area seem prime for a well ventilated with fans equipment area. with IR repeaters you need never to go back there except to change media. and with streaming media, ou don't even need that!

So, the area there in front of the door... I'm going to put in a "secret" click panel. The stud there needs to be moved.

I was considering that for the equipment area... but I've found that having the equipment right there in the theater is somewhat nicer at times... when the sh*t hits the fan... Cool observation though! Makes me think some more.

I put all that insulation in to try and deaden the sound to the rest of the house. Last time around (in another house), I put that sound board between the drywall and the joists on the ceiling (no real direct connection of drywall to joists) and that was amazing! Dead quiet upstairs... except for when the whole house vibrated... Smile

I think I might do that again.

I'm more of a media in my hand kind of guy. Streaming is OK for just messing around on a TV, but I don't think I'd use it for critical viewing. Plus, I refuse to buy content that I cannot actually hold in my hand. It just isn't yours if it's on someone else's server... and it costs almost as much! "Oh, sorry... we're going out of business and all of that content you bought... tough..." or "Site is down.. blahblahblah"

Was thinking that ripping all my media to my own server would be cool though!

i've never been much of a streaming media guy either, i have a few weeks of music in iTumes, and i serve it to my squeezebox, but i've gotten really interested in DLNA servers and protocols, and that might get me over the hump to getting a stream to some of my devices.

Well, I'm a bit further. I'm about to carpet the walls in black over drywall on top of a layer of very heavy free floating 1/2" thick rubber pad... That's a 9500lc, but I think I'm going to take it down and blend two of them...

That's my Fitz Maurice Tuba 12Hz sub on the floor there, and the "secret" door. The AT 120" 16x9 screen is installed, as is the black carpet on the ceiling...

One thing you should do is angle the side walls slightly so that they are not parallel. that will help bigtime with room acoustics.

Might be a bit late for that now... I had good luck the last time just by making the response of the room very dull with sound absorbing materials. I did have a bass problem though, and I bet I will this time as well.

Are you putting carpet on the entire wall area?

Yes. The sound absorbtion is perfect (not too little / not too much), as is the "blackness".
