So I have the original HDFury (with DVI) and the Atlona HD-577 that converts 7.1 LPCM into separate analog channels.

The Atlona has two EDID modes: it can provide its own EDID, or pass through the display device's (HDFury in my case). When using the HDFury EDID, I get perfect picture, but my PS3 sends no sound because HDFury doesn't have audio.

I do get sound when using the Atlona EDID... but then the picture becomes distorted, looking like it has interlacing artifacts. Is this because there is audio mixed into the digital signal and the HDFury cannot process it?

Anybody know of a way to fix this? Do you think using a later model HD Fury with some audio capabilities may solve this issue?

I think you said it yourself, the later ones will also flag up as Audio Sinks. Problem solved. If you're getting rid of your one anytime, I might be interested myself (but am in UK). Still, any flavour of 'Fury sell well on eBay.
