|
|
Hi,
I am trying to connect my Mac book pro retina (mountain lion) to the Crystalio 2 video scaler (VPS 3300) vier hdmi connection. Going to a Barco CRT (808 Graphic) projector using the RGBHV analogue output.
The crystalio 2 seems to connect momentarily then the screen goes blank. I know that it is HDCP encryption problem.
DO you have any suggestions on what box I can use with the crystalio and barco to get around the HDCP
I am currently using an HD FURY 4 (Please see manual www.hdfury.com/docs/HDfury4manual.pdf) which is designed to overcome the HDCP problem.
I can not get it to work with the crystalio video scaler . There seems to be a sink problem , the image comes up for 3 seconds then goes blank.
If i plug the Hd fury directly into the Barco ( component ) it works, however, it will not work RGBHV or RGB ( sink on green).
Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this.
Can I get the hd fury to work with my scaler/ projector or do I need a new scaler or an alternative to the HD fury?
Regards,
ian

Please provide a little more detail about how exactly you have this set up.
This: Macbook - - HDMI - - > Crystalio - - RGBHV - - > Projector
Will NOT work when HDCP is active. HDCP is designed specifically to prevent this sort of situation.
However, this: Macbook - - HDMI - - > Crystalio - - HDMI - - > HD Fury - - RGBHV - - > Projector
Should normally work. However again, I believe the HD Fury 4 does not bypass HDCP anymore, if I remember correctly that stopped after the HD Fury 2, because the HDCP folks finally got wind of what HD Fury was doing, and threatened them with a bunch of legal action. So the HD Fury 4 is only good when there is no HDCP in place. You would need a Moome box instead, or a HDCP stripper of some sort.

Depends on which country you live in and ordered it in, I believe. See this disclaimer in the owner's manual, on the bottom of every page:
| Quote: | | Disclaimer: In some countries, t his product will not process HDCP input. When receiving content that has HDCP encryption there will be no video output. A 3rd party and/or a custom firmware can be used |
It is my understanding that when purchased in countries that have laws recognizing HDCP and other forms of digital DRM protection, such as the US, you will receive a device that outputs a black screen when receiving an HDCP-encrypted input. I am not sure what the OP would have received in the UK.
That being said, there are likely hacked firmwares for the HDFury that allow it to operate with HDCP signals.[/quote]

Must not be forbidden in France then. But his behavior is consistent with what I've read, you can get it to output component, but no RGBHV. That HDCP hack should fix things though.

hi,
I have now done more testing, here are my findings:
Macbook pro> hdmi> hd fury>hdmi>crystallio>rgbhv>barco 808
Result: get image for 3 seconds then blank ( would assume that this is HDCP problem)
I was told today that the HD fury will only strip out the HDCP if you go component or rgb out.
So I tried the following
Macbook pro>hdmi>hd fury>component>crystallio>rgbhv>barco808
Result: No signal,
Macbook pro>hdmi>hd fury>RGB>crystallio>rgbhv>barco808
Result: No signal
However:
Macbook pro>Hdmi>hd fury>component>barco 808
I get a stable image at 1080i the problem is the image is far superior if it is processes by the crystallio.
What I need is a HDCP stripper that will work with the Crystallio VPS 3300
Do you have any recommendations.

You can try the custom firmware we mentioned above in your HD Fury, that will then strip HDCP, so you could then do any of the video chains that you just mentioned, although HDMI to the crystalio, or the HD-Fury after the Crystalio (either one will keep an all-digital path into the crystalio) would be preferred.
Otherwise, you can try the stripper stridsvognen mentioned, although that seems to be hit-or-miss, or you can get a Moome MUX.

Moome MUX-HD will do the job and it accepts HDMI input
