is anyone still out there in the know about a vintage 1992 ampro 4200g. i salvaged a house and it is way too cool looking to toss and no shops in this area cares about it. i have complete manual, projector, quadrupler, remote. i have never been exposed to this and dont know where to start to see if it is worth it.

It's a relatively old set. I threw out two in the last month due to no interest, but if it has low hours. you could get a dcenty 1080i or 720p image out of it. It's not worth anything to sell, but if you don't want it and want to give it away to someone here, feel free to offer it.
Parts are long discontinued, I didn't even save any parts out of the two I had here, as both had issues, and had been sitting here for 5 years.

that might be just the thing to do. i dont want to see it thrown if some whiz can put back in action. but to know where it stands, is there a simple test to know if the crt's are toast. should they just simply light up with the power switch. if they should then is there a general override fuse that would hold them back.

You need to have the wired remote connected to power it up after flipping the power switch on.

The master of the AmPro projectors is forum member 'tse' he also resides in florida if I am correct, so if anybody he probably can get the most out of that set!
There are manuals on this site, or even the youtube has videos how to set up an AmPro

He had it for 3 years before he read the instructions and yes I think it blew up several times.

That SOB gave me trouble for years. I hit power once and it took out the main power in my place! Lots of fun but NO, using the guided setup had NOTHING to do with that.
I also have a Quadrupler on it. Looks nice now. Even better from the HTPC.

My last 4000 was "free" I had to take a 400km detour to get it. Less cost than the little postage from your place.
