Well, I was going to hook up my NES to my Runco DTV-1100, to see if I could get some Duck Hunt action going. The PJ is my only CRT device left in the house, so my only hope for light gun games.

To my surprise, I found that unlike it's Barco counterpart, the 1100 doesn't have a composite video input! I had never noticed this before, as I run everything else through my receiver to a Moome box.

So... I'm looking for a solution to convert composite video to RGBHV without any line doubling or processing. Running it through my receiver or my newly-aquired HDQ would obviously add delay, ruining any chances of playing light gun games.

Any ideas?

Did you try it through the HDQ at all? Just turn off scaling, it should convert to RGBHV with no delay for light games.

Worth a try.

Nash, its not the delay that affects the light gun games, its the resolution and refresh rate the gun requires in order to see where youre aiming Wink

Actually, I believe it is largely the delay - I've read that more than a full field of delay will cause big issues, at least for the NES.

Haven't tried through the HDQ yet, but I'll give it a shot. I'm guessing it won't work well though, because it doesn't allow for the pass-through of 240p (or pseudo 480i) signals, they must be scaled / deinterlaced to at least 480p.

Its not just the delay, although with the NES it may not matter. You can aim it at a 6500k fluro light and still hit the first target every time.

I haven't found the thread i'm lookin for yet, should i find it i'll post it here Smile

@gnnash

I have a spare decoder somewhere, i took it out of a late model BD808s which should use the same boards as a Runco DTV-1100 or 1209s. Interested? Shipping is 12.90 euro and that's the only thing you have to pay Smile

I'd love it... however I'm not sure that it would plug-and-play, I am guessing the DTV-1100 firmware would ignore it. Curt, can you speak to this?

I pulled it from a R762719

Seems to indicate the 1209s uses the R762719 and there is also a R762719 in my 1208s/e. I think it's pretty safe to assume this will work Smile

Edit: The schematics to reconnect this can be found here

If it were a 1209s, I'd say yes, absolutely it will work. However the DTV-1100 never shipped with a quad decoder card, so it may be blocked out in the projector's firmware. If I press "1" or "2" on my remote, nothing happens, it doesn't try to switch to either of those inputs. Now this may indeed be because the card is missing, however I suspect that the firmware may have blocked switching to those inputs, since they never existed in the projector.

I did not think of it like that!

Hmm i have no idea how my 808s behaves right now (without the decoder). I could also pull the decoder from my 1208s/e and see what it does it that situation (since it's very closely related to the 1209s and dtv1100)

That would be a great test, if you were willing to do that! You could pull the card, then fire up the projector and display an RGBHV source, and see if it will let you switch to inputs 1 or 2. If it does switch away from the RGB source, I'd say that it won't work for me.

Thanks!

Good news, no decoder = no input 1 or 2! Did the test exactly as you asked!
