it will cost around 100$ to ship it, and i payed 150$ for it, and got the money back.

And i have tried to take the chip off with a heater, but first i think it needs to much heat to come off, 2nd it have legs all the way in under it, like a cpu chip, and i dont see how its possible to get it back on, beeing sure its all soldered right.

So no matter how fun it would be, a working unit is worth less than the shipping price.

Hi,

Very interesting! The front housing is quite different. How do You mount them to the bottom rail?

This is 9520 housings, they need to be changed.. Just the front part holding the Celement.

The 9520 seems to be a split pack machine..

http://www.ebay.com/itm/VDC-Display-Systems-Marquee-9520-CRT-Projector-System-Fall-Clearance-/370830547477?pt=US_Video_Projectors&hash=item5657391a15

I think thats the reason those tubes was on Ebay for so long.

No one knowing, myself to, and the seller very very slow to respond if ever.

I finaly made him sende me a picture of the tube face and lable of the green tube..

Bought that one first.

Then asked for pictures of the remaining 4 tubes 2 blue 2 red.. wanted to make him a offer on them all..

He never responded, late i noticed he had posted pictures of the lables, showint they were all LUG..

The green and red was with magnetics, and listed as used, the 2 blue listed as new, with no magnetics, and in 9520 housings.

No one wants to risk buying a set of P22 tubes.

Look like they was sold quite fast when shown as LUG tubes, i just had to hurry and get the last red tube.

Thats also the reason i never linked to the Ebay listin, no need to shoot my own foot off.. I was a bit ego there Embarassed

BTW (I think You asked about this before):
I have a green P19LUG working in my Marquee since about one year. Color reproduction wasn't affected when I did the swap. I did a test with a red LUG too and it worked flawlessly as well. The only thing that went down was brightness due to the smaller spot size and both LUGs start blooming quite early when raising the contrast level. Maybe this will be reduced when using the MP modded VIM and neck boards (soon, have them here already).

Just one recommendation: Before taking out the old tube, go to the G2 settings and reduce them to about 40-45. The LUGs need considerably lower G2 voltages and if You turn them on with regular settings (between 60-70) You will get a super bright picture and may endager the phosphor.

If You want, I can post a picture of my LUG-compatible neck board. Instead of drilling out the PCB around pin 6 (as usually recommended) I did a mod which makes the additional G2 jumper wire completely obsolete. This has been tested to work flawlessly on two boards.

I actualy was thinking about the VNB G2 thing not to long ago and wondered if i should just leave the board with the conector, and remove the resistor and jump te lead there, or solder it directly to the pin.

... which is exactly what I did!
Remove R37 (330k SMD), increase the space between the contact and ground by cutting away the traces to the removed SMD resistor, solder the jump wire directly to pin 6, secure and isolate pin 6 with a drop of hot glue.

I do think its the right solution, but then there is the hole testing swapping boards and tubes thing lol.

Umm what to do..

Maybe just remove the resistor, and solder a pin on the side of pin 6 who fits the conector on the cable, and make it permanent if going with the lug tubes..

Barclay-

What's you general opinion of the LUGS vs the LCPS? Do you think the tradeoff in brightness is worth it?

Oh, yes. I forgot. That's a 1meg resistor now (like in the G90 and the BR909).

Well,
It's not really worth it if You are using stock boards. In order to get the same brightness like a P19LCP You need to increase the contrast to such a degree that the blooming eats up almost all of the additional sharpness.
If You can live with a bit less brightness then it's amazing. Much more noticeable with a green tube and somewhat on a red one. I haven't tested any blue LUGs yet...
