I know for years this was done on big screen television units. But what about the CRT projector? I have such a low basement ceiling that I cannot go under without bonking my head and floor mount puts me way back. I am better served it being completely out of the way. Even with digital the picture has to shoot so far back i am still to far away. I will simply go rear from another room is my theory with rear projection. But I do not even want to try if I can see the 3 colors shooting through it. Because the unit will being hanging practically in the middle of the screen. it hangs 2 feet with the cheif mount. Anyone doing this now?

What about a mirrored projection: install the projector vertically (lens looking up) the add a first surface mirror in 45° (from an old RPTV), so the projector may behind your seat.

As gjaky said, you can put the pj behind you pointing up with a mirror. For rear pro, look up Phil Smith's G70 threads on the subject. He put his pj in his garage and had it projecting onto a screen in his living room. It was a real nice set up.

It's been a long time dream of mine to do crt in rear projection. This allows the projector to be in another room so you don't hear it. It allows zero keystoning which makes things easier on the electronics...it allows you to watch the projector with some lights on in the room...to me, I am just baffled why it's not more popular.
In my case, I simply don't have the room to do it...or it would have been done!
someone did it with a mirror on this forum....I think he was using a G70. It was in another room on the ceiling aimed the total other direction, it then hit a mirror and shined back on his screen.
I say make it happen!!

widescreen review used to replace their screens with upgraded rear projector screens...see if you can hunt down some info. I'll see as well.

You can watch it with lights on front or rear projected, but why would you want to? It aint gonna be any brighter just cause youve gone rear ( probably less bright ), and last rear pro screen i saw was still white, so lights in the room are gonna have the exact same effect.
You can use zero keystone on a front setup, the XG in my bedroom is that way. I dont hear that right above me in all but the quietest of scenes, and you would need a stethescope up to the Cine 9 to hear it during a movie.

I agree rptvs have always been a projector in a box(have worked on many) heck if you want I have a few mirrors from tvs I have gutted over the years(along with some small screens(should I ever decide to do the same set up)
You can also use a mirror with front projection if you want to put the projectior in the ceiling or attic and have it project onto the screen that way with a mirror(same benfits as rear pro)

dude, you have an XG in your bedroom? Are you sure you're not American??
what about the bathroom theater? Maybe a dwin?
perhaps a pico dlp for the front hallway or linen closet?
just google something like "rear projection ambient light" and you will see, this setup works way better in ambient light than a front projector. Not that I would have ambient light, but some people may appreciate it.
And precious few can have a zero keystone install without some sort of major issue with screen height or projector placement.

I will agree with you being able to have the lights on with a rear pro(of course it makes night shots crap) but it rejects more light then most think(especially if the right screen is used)
I have zero keystone install but it was a lot of careful work to get it there(and I will have to do it all again soon  )
Currently working a samsung rear pro that has p16 tubes(its HD(up to 1080i)capible and has 8inch tubes really nice tv
Ps case you may see me make a thread with a pic of a marquee sticking out the back of my caddie soon(the one of my nec got deleted  )

That screen is not exactly huge is it. 
There is or was one with two DTV 1200 stacked over/under i saw a few years back, screen was white.
Benareeno, im 100% made in Australia, and yes i have an XG in my bedroom. I dont need to google it, ive owned and still own a number of CRT rear pros, ive shot a Sony 1001 through a rear pro screen, and ive done a DLP on a 200" rear pro screen. Youre still shooting an image through a diffuser of sorts, youre still going to compromise somewhere. With a Cine 7 you may not notice the loss in sharpness. There are many reasons why its may be better, but there is many reasons why its not as well.
E, he isnt talking about complete unit TVs here.

No reason why married men cant have everything they want. Probably even more so that me as a single guy cause married men that chose the right partner having simular common interests will usually have 2 incomes, compared to my 1...

I know he wasn't talking about complete tvs but rear pro setups are simler to rear pro tvs
But a setup like that would be great in the looks department
I looked at the link and that screen seems small compared to mine
