OK this may be frustration talking.....but I just got a call from one of our departments that just fried a 8 grand Dell computer by a X-RAY tube arcing and throwing 65,000 volts into its USB. The isolator to prevent that from occurring was not used because it takes too long to mess with. 15 Seconds!!!!!????
Then I get a lady who dumped coffee down into her laptop and it went boom!!!
Then a maintenance facilities guy dismounts a projector to replace a bulb and he decided to use a power drill to undo the screws and replace the bulb with and he cracked the internal housing.
Now two of the users clicked on malware links and now their PC's open about 2,000 porn links a piece. I do not know what to say!!!

As a matter of fact, yes...
I spent 5 hours working on a $38,000 steamer oven today, and i still need to go back inside to replace the faulty variable speed drive for the top fan motor... Lucky we've got 9 of them here, cause i had to rob the steam boiler from another oven in another kitchen to get it running again.
I had a gas fitter here yesterday to install and commission 2 brand new deep fryers in that same kitchen, calibrated to 172°c and remove temp adjustment knobs, in 1 night they managed to pull a knob from the stovetop and wound them up... Now theyre burning the batter before the fish is cooked...
Dont think it stops there either, i havent moved onto bars, refridgeration or airconditioning yet...
I think you should be thankful youre not working with chefs as well, all those jobs you stated sound real easy!!!

My tale is a bit different, but here goes. You guys know I was out of town for most of April, and right before I left on my first trip, I get a message through eBay from a guy in New Yawk looking for an EHT board for a Barco 808/Zenith 1200. I email back that I do have one, to email me through either this site or via the email address I gave him so I could get his info and send him a Paypal invoice. I get no reply. No biggie, that happens all the time.
A week later, I'm up North, and get a phone call from a guy with a strong accent: 'Did you ship my part yet?' I have no effing idea who it is, but I see on my call display it's from New Yawk. So I ask what part he's looking for, He says 'A Barco part' Greeat!!!. Finally I get it out of him that he's the guy that emailed me a week or 10 days earlier through eBay. I have to ask a LOT of questions to get that out of him. I tell him that I never heard back from him, that I don't have his info, and that he hasn't paid me. I get 'Don't worry my friend, you will get paid'
Yeah right buddy, as soon as I'm 'your friend', I get worried.
So I tell him I'm out of town for another week, that he can email me, I'll confirm that I have his email, but nothing will ship out for a week until I'm back. Then I get 'what kind of business are you running anyway, this is bull****' type line.
It takes a LOT usually to piss me off, but now I've had it. I tell the guy in no uncertain terms that he can go find it elsewhere on the net, and good luck finding it, since I'm probably the last person on earth that has the board, and that even if he came to my door and paid me cash, I wouldn't sell it to him. I thank him for calling, and hang up on him. He calls back twice, I ignore him.
It gets better.... I get a call a week later, right in the few days I'm in town again before heading to LA. Same accent, different person, same New Yawk phone number. 'Hi, I'm looking for a BArco HV board.' I say 'sorry, I've already told your brother/cousin/friend that unless he emails me his info and pays me for the board, I'm not sending anything, and I STILL haven't seen an email. He calls AGAIN while I'm in LA 'have you sent my board?' I tell him no, I haven't, and no, I won't.
I get a call yesterday from a local number 'Hi, do you have a HV board for a Zenith Pro 1200'. DIfferent phone number, same accent. WTF? Turns out, the guy recruited a friend here in Vancouver to buy the board off me. I tell him the price, which is now $25 more than when we started, the terms are CASH only and I will give him a tested board once I see the cash. He then asks if I can send it to his buddy in New Yawk. I tell him absolutely not, that his 'friend' is a moron that can't follow basic instructions, and that I will make an exception, that I will sell it to this local guy with cash, in person. He says fine. He calls me back 5 minutes later, asking for my bank info so that he can pay that day, and pick up the next day. I tell him NO, and if he wants to change the rules one more time, I won't take his calls anymore either.
For shits and giggles, I listed the same EHT board on eBay at a slightly inflated price as well, just in case.
Well, the local guy shows up this morning, and after asking about the warranty, and trying to talk me down in price, and Skyping with his guy in New Yawk to make sure the part is the right one, and asking again if I can send it to New Yawk...... NO!!!... he actually pulls out cash, pays me and walks away.
1/2 hour later, his buddy from the same damn New Yawk number calls me. I ignore it, as I'm buried in a sound rack.
All I'm hoping is that the EHT board really was at fault. He never asked for troubleshooting assistance, so I never offered any.

i would have smelled the rat(s) from a mile away its people like that that the world doesn't need(his friend also) heck i get folks asking can i do this on a so and so machine(without me seeing the machine) my reply ussualy is what is the os(most say windows but NEVER the version)
curt you did the right thing though as had you sent the part before they paid you have never seen your money(i had a"friend" try that trick on buying a laptop he wanted the machine then make the payments it never happened as i told him pay up front) it was someone i know(and have known him for years) yet he pulled the same trick but since i told him that he has yet to call me again(some friend)
i guess some people never learn that its not item first then pay its pay first then item
ps thanks for helping me pick out a projector(i am already looking into the upgrade for when the budget allows i hope i don't start hoarding them like i did projection tvs(i have the chassis of one serving as a cabinet for my audio system) but i got rid of most of the non working ones(except the samsung since i am repairing it just have to get another part for it (tube, neck boards and the convergence amp board they worked for ten years for the guy then crap out on me when he gives me the set oh well at least it will last for awhile just wish parts werent so hard to get(it took me two weeks to find the tube thanks to this forum i found the neck boards (again thanks curt for the forum and flipdog for the help)

Easy. rear projection screen disguised as a picture frame, projector in another room.

The only people who would do that are sports nuts(I have seen where some have had tvs in the bathroom but a projector wouldn't that be a bit overkill??
Plus the bathroom is so small it would make the screen look odd(even disguised as picture frame)
Hence I only have room for one home theater setup
Not that this would be a cool idea to do but actual limits of space prevents me from doing this
Most crt projectors only work with a 5 foot screen diagonal at the least(a 5foot screen sized picture frame would really stick out like crazy )
Though if you do have a room that isn't used next to the bathroom(I don't) and can cut a hole for the screen it would be cool(I would cut the hole for the screen where it can be watched even while taking a shower that way you don't miss nothing
Ps if anyone decides to do this hit me up I have some tv screens that I removed from the projection tvs I used to have before I got rid of them(I think I have at least 3-4 in 4:3 format)they are intact with both halves (front and back of the screen with mounting hardware on a few)I know I hoard stuff too much but I can't help it

When I got my Runco 900 I was testing it in the hallway. The middle 1/3rd of the picture was projecting on my shower wall. I watched cartoons while in the shower and NO there are NO pictures of that!
