Finally took the AmPro down along with all the hardware and patched the ceiling. You'd never know there was ever a projector in the room. Not quite sure what I'm going to do with it. It has been modified to use a set of Nash's tubes which I was not quite satisfied with. They are super sharp at low contrast levels but as you crank it up, the electronic focus drops off. I won't sell it as it has way to many hours on the chassis. I'll probably pull the lenses and c-elements, then dump it. I'll bet all I have to say is "red c-element" and I'll be swamped with questions.
One thing I noticed about Nash's tubes is the blue is showing wear first. That's a first for me. I've never seen a EM wear the blue first. It's always been the greens for me.

Why not offer it up for sale? Who cares how many hours it has on it. I once drove around in a Mercedes Benz with 1,634,000 klms on the odometer ( the odometer stopped working at that... Everything else still worked perfectly... )

If the picture on screen is good-enough, give it to someone who will appreciate it. It is not like you would be promising trouble-free operation. Of course, no one might want it. I think I have a set of new-ish tubes for it courtesy of CJ that I posted here, but can't recall for sure.
This reminds me of Franklin's funny writing in which he points out...well, read point #5 about covering the top 1/2 with a basket....

Yeah don't dismantle it....let someone else play with it. The red-c isn't worth your time.

Hell. let me have it. I have more tubes for it. And I can play with the neck boards or focus system to figure out how to get it to focus better at higher contrast.
Remember these were made for a night time simulator with high resolution, They probably maximized the focus for low contrast.
I have a 3600 can it be converted to a 4600 with just a tube swap like the Marquee's?

Right off the top of my head and without looking it up I believe the chassis parts are the same. The software would be different but only in that it would say it's a 3600. Of course burning a chip or 2 would fix that. The chassis frame is different though. The 4600 is wider.

The 4600 motherboard is different, but yes, I believe the boards are the same.

Yeah, I remember that MB being different but can't remember why. Can you jog my memory?

Yes, it's wider.
There's an add-on board on the far right for the H deflection board. I'm not sure that the overall circuit is different, I think they just made the motherboard wider so that the H board could bolt to the side of the chassis.

No, I don't think so. The 8" chassis isn't wide enough to fit the 9" tubes.

No ones 9" LC optics will fit in a 3600. I have one of those also hanging in the garage.
