I have been looking at the "sale" threads on the Radiance XD. From those that have the XD, or have worked with the XD my question are.. Are you limted to the output frequency? I have zero interest in 3D. Right now my output if with the PS3. Like most of us, we have a library of standard DVD's and are moving to Bluray. For scaling the output of my DVD player should I look at the older Radiance?

I have the Moome card and John's DVI cards installed right now.

Words of wisdom are welcome.

Try 817p@72Hz for scope. Input card has to accept it of course .

You have updated to the latest firmware?

There should be 817p in the resolution menu. XD should handle it also.

I do not have a Radiance XD yet.. My questions are for those that do. Can it scale standard DVD's to 1080P at a high enough frequency to have a good picture. I know that with the latest HTPC's one can get great results.

Yes, but with the XD, you will not be able to do full blown 1080P at 72hz, you'll have to run 1080P@60hz.

817P@72hz works fine.

3D also works great.

You can for sure always get 1080P 60hz out. The Radiance is for sure the best scaler you can get, and you will do just as well with a mini if your DVD player have HDMI out. There is better deinterlacers for SD signals than the Radiance, so you might prefer a progressive output from your player.

It can be a problem if your playing PAL DVD like 50 hz can be a bit annoying on a CRT.

You can choose between:
1920 x 1080 @60
1920 x 817 @72
If you want 1920 x 1080 @72 you have to buy the XS/XE 3D+, but it is suitable only for top 9"
