TV/Projector: All of them!

Posted: Tue Mar 12, 2013 3:26 am    Post subject: Need a video grade projector in Boca Raton, Fl.

I received an email today from a customer that specifically is looking for a video grade projector for 3D video gaming. From his email:

I'm looking for an entry level CRT projector for the purpose of playing my old field sequential 3D DVDs. I would need the yellow video input as this is all the signal box allows. (This was one of the old wired two glasses sets that ran around $40.) I have no technical knowledge and would need the item in working order, with decent life left on the bulbs.

I've linked him to this post, so something like an ECP with a video input card, or a Sony 10XX series would work. I've told him that a set like this should be <$100.

It's pointless him spending $300ish to get a set like that from me to him, so this is one of the rare times that I'm passing a sale/freebie onto you guys. Very Happy

Thanks!

I have got a G70, but I won't sell it for $100. Hell, I would have $20 in gas to get it to him. If he is interested, then tell him to PM me. I am about 30 miles away. He could have it by Wed.

There should be several free, or nearly free, 12xx's in the Boca/Lauderdale/Miami area. I never see CRT's in my area of the country, and I just saw a 12xx local to me for $50.

Or, if there isn't one now, I would think there would be in a matter of a few weeks or a month.

Trying to take a sale away from me.Mr. Green Laughing

I don't look that often, but everytime I do I see people with extremely inflated prices. I know some people around here would email them and try to educate them, but I really don't give two sh$ts. I am sure several members cry every time a CRT is recycled (I really mean thrown in the trash bin:)), but to me these devices are just a means to an end.

Like I said, if the guy is interested then he can have my excellent tube G70 with a full set of back up boards for $400. At this point for me, it will be my G90 or a new JVC (and the JVC looks better and better).

Sorry, Spanky! For some reason, I had in my mind that his budget was $100, so I figured you were out of the running, anyway. Re-read and see that's just Curt's advice on what the guy will have to spend for a video-grade set.

I think $400 is very fair for a nice G70 with backup boards. Probably overkill to be used for 3D standard def, but if I were the interested party, I'd much rather pay $400 for a very capable set that will do everything instead of $100 for a single-purpose set.

I've linked him to this thread. HE didn't give me a budget, so I didn't even think about going as high end as a G70, but he can sign up here if he's interested and contact you. A G70 will definitely do what he needs to for sure.

Nope, no 480i composite input. The Runco 750 would be fine, as long as the tubes are good.

I was just yanking your chain.Smile

If he wants it, then great. If not, then that is fine as well. I wouldn't say I am actively trying to sell it, so if he doesn't buy it then it will probably just sit in the same position in storage till I decide to do something with it. I really would like to see some fanatics cry, so at some point maybe I will drop it off the roof of my building. Twisted Evil

I would watch it multiple times... And I would sort of enjoy it, but it would also bother me a little to see. Not the way it would if a Ferrari was crashed, but more like if a really minty AMC Gremlin or Ford Maverick was smashed. Somebody should have stopped that and taken care of the thing; just not me.

Well, maybe I should get AR, Nash, Case, etc to stand underneath it and see if they can catch it. If so, then they can keep it. Twisted Evil Laughing
