Leave my Marquee plugged in when not in use?

Quick question: should I leave my Marquee 8500 plugged in when I'm not using it? I've been unplugging it when I'm not using it, and I'm wondering if it makes any difference either way.

Doesn't really matter IMHO. I didn't use mine for 2 years and left it plugged in. the power supply smoked with a BANG when I turned it on last year, and that was the main supply that fried, not the standby one that's on all the time, driving the fans. I think it would have died as easily had I unplugged it for the 2 years.

Tubes had the same emission after 16K hours approx in idle mode (filaments in standby voltage mode) as they did when I last used the set before the 2 year period.

Hi,

I have a master switch for most of the HT components including the Marquee and I always switch everything off. Energy cost in Germany is the second highest in the world (see http://www.statista.com/statistics/13020/electricity-prices-in-selected-countries/). So there's no point in leaving anything plugged in. In addition, the LVPS fans will wear out faster and You might end up with much more dust inside (depending on the environment conditions)...

Regards,

I turn mine off, I use my AMX to turn off all my HT equipment.

23,66 Rp./kWh
0.2366 CHF = 0.254800 USD

Cheers
Steve

Also a master switch here. Too dangerous in case of a lightning strike.

I unplug mine after each use, partly to save the life of the fans but mainly to protect it from lightening or other line problems. It also saves money as I believe my 9500 draws about 25W in standby.

We pay around 0,37 US$ pr Kwh here in Denmark, so its not a option to keep it plugged in..
