How can it be a demo unit with 0 hours on it? I know the guys are legit, but that wording is iffy.

Also '1 year FH video spare part warranty' I guess is dependent on what exactly they have in stock.

I'm guessing they're still about 40% too high on the price at this point...

Does it still need a new Dallas chip?Smile

It has been two and a half years since I bought my G90 off of Roger Galvin. He said he was doing a lot of installs of FH's G90s in Asia. I wonder if there is a slow down in interest over there.

The zero hour thing is weird. I wonder of the Dallas chip died and now it just says 0 hours. There are always at least 6 hours on a brand new unit that were put on during the "factory" calibration to the YA board. It's impossible to have a 0 hour G90.

I know a dealer in Japan who orders these from FH at the regular price. They feel the price is reasonable.

Maybe they just replaced the tubes, so it's the tubes they're referring to that are zero hours. I know FH drug a G90 to CEDIA a few times, and I assume maybe they had something set up in their SFO showroom, perhaps. So, maybe they just re-tubed that demo machine and they're selling it as a "zero-hour demo".

Not sure this one machine reflects them "starting to dump stock". I guess we'll see.

Didn't VDC run there pjs for 50 hours or more for break in? I remember Scott showing me the break in area (it looked like a shooting range). How long does a pj need for break in?

Quote: Sony VPH-G90U brand new unit with one year FH Video spare part warranty $12,950.00

With boards no longer being made and parts out of production that's not much of a warranty for a $13K item ! Shocked

Looks like they waited too long for the garage sale..... Wink

I'd say so, considering they want $3950 for a Sony V20M and $4950 for a Sony D50.

Personally i would spend money on a brand new G90 before buying a 10K LcOS or anything else.

To my knowledge, the only $10k and over LCOS pjs are the Sony 4k and cinema JVC 4k. The rest are quite a bit under. I might add that the rumor was you could get the Sony 4k for between $15k and $20k when it first came out. Not sure what the street price is now.

An RS66 would be in that ballpark, Spanky.

Still rather have the JVC at this point, though my opinion is meaningless since I have zero interest in dropping 10-large on a projector, regardless of technology.

The only thing I'd point out is that at $10k-plus, a G90 would be worth 1/2 to 1/3 of what you paid for it before the truck even showed up with it. I guess it wouldn't matter if you planned on keeping it for years, but the JVC would have better resale value for probably 4-5 years unless something crazy happened in the market/industry.

You are correct. According to PJC, the retail is over $10k on the RS66. The street price though is around $8k.

Like you I don't play in that league. I would be curious what the used price on the 66 is after two years.

FWIW the 66 is really quite nice. I've gotten to calibrate two of them in combo with RadianceXE units and they came out stunning. This is JVC's best projector yet. Very bright, very sharp, best black point on a digital to date, and really decent colors. Also the 66 has very little ghosting on 3D. The 3D isn't as good as on a DLP like the DPI or SIM2, but it is really good.

The G90 still beats it on colors and black point, but the differences are getting smaller. To me the G90 still looks much more realistic.

I still agree that the picture from a calibrated G90 is truly a sight to behold. To me, it's still the ultimate 1080p film-like picture. For me though, that beautiful picture comes with too many negatives. I want one, but I don't want one.

To me, the G90 is a little like a Ferrari... Über-gorgeous and amazing performance, but expensive to insure and maintain, and just not practical as a daily driver. Instead, give me JVC that's like an M3. The M3 is nothing like a 458, but it's still awesome in its own right. It seats 4, it's comfortable, it won't overheat or catch fire, you can drive it everyday in traffic, but it still goes like a bat out of hell when you want to hit the track or some twisties. Smile

They arent going to sell at those prices. I highly doubt it.

Maybe we should all pool together and do a group buy. I've always wanted to do a QUAD STACK. Thumbs Up

I doubt they're really "profiteering." I suspect they paid way too much for them, refused to accept market price for them and take a loss, and have been storing them for years.
