Hi Everyone,
Started my Sony D50 this morning, got the dreaded bad bearing sound from what sound like the powersupply fan.

Tried to find some specs for the fan, but came up blank.
Does anyone have any specs??

Curt, do you have any new, or good fans?

UC Fan
F412R-12LA-06 is the fan model number.

Appreciate any info or help.

Cheers
Steve

I'll have to check, and to think I've thrown out probably 6 D50 chassis last year, and tossed the fans as well.

Can you check which one it is? I should have the power supply and the CPU fan, I most likely do not have the large ones at the back of the chassis.

BTW, I don't know that it's critical as to the specs, as the D50 really doesn't run too hot. I would guess that as long as there is some movement of air on the power supply, you'll be fine.

I did find that out with the heat sink tunnel of the 12XX series between the D and E boards. I had my test set fan go bad, and I didn't have one, so I left it off. Even though that tiny fan moves little air, it made a big difference in the operating temperature of those heat sinks...

Steve,

Post the dimensions of the fan. It may be that a fan from a G90 or G70 will work also. You should try and stick with the JapanServo fans if possible. Computer fans will not trip the safety mechanism in the projector when they fail. This could lead to the projector operating without any fan...

Thanks Guy's,

The original are 2 wire only, so I suppose any fan will do.
It is the power supply fan.

The tags were hiding your problem - it was the URL-unfriendly characters (parentheses) in the URL that was breaking the URL in the forum parser. If you take the tags off, you can see where the URL breaks:
http://media.digikey.com/pdf/Data%20Sheets/Copal%20Electronics%20PDFs/f412r_en(1).pdf

Change the ( to a %28 and the ) to a %29, and it's fine.

With URL tag:
Fan spec sheet PDF

Without URL tag:

OK, but I wasn't aware that I'd need to be a HTML/Forum Parser/URL-encoding geek in order to post a link Wink

Really, only a two wire fan!!! The D50 was a lower end model compared to its brothers but I am still surprised.
