I just fund this very helpful lines on AVS. This will def. help me to judge my next setup:

(If you don't see well resolved phosphor grain on your screen in the center with electronic focus turned to 0, then your optical focus is probably off. Electronic focus does have 5 interacting adjustments (flair, dynamic astigmation, focus, permanent magnet astigmation, and triangle adjustment), so it takes patience to get it right, but if a professional has touched your machine, electronic focus should be near perfect.)

A quick way to check your electronic focus is to put up a grid test pattern and select any color(color, then #(1=red, 2=green, 3=blue)) to check. If cranking the contrast makes the lines bleed out in a non-uniform way, flair is bad. If turning up or down the picture->focus from 50 makes both vertical and horizontal lines sharper, then focus is off(utility->service->rgb focus). If adjusting the focus makes horizontal sharper while making verticle blurry(or vice versa), then astigmation is off.

Hello

Mostly helpful; I have never seen "phosphor grain" on a Marquee, that would be very distracting. Those wishing to learn about Marquee Magnetics alignment can look here: http://www.etechvideo.com/techtip9.htm

Beware the shock hazard inherent with reaching along a running CRT.
