Picked up a set of lenses and tubes today with red and green films duct taped to the tubes. Now that's modding baby!!!

Before I got my HD145's and adapters, I experimented with some films on the tube fronts to see if it was worth the upgrade. I just moistened the tube front a bit and they held on with surface tension -- probably would have stayed that way a long time.

Unfortunately the films weren't optical quality. They don't have to be, if they're just tinting light. So I bit the bullet and got the HD145's. Smile

Yeah, back in the CRT heyday, "Rosco" filters were all the rage for improving color on the unfiltered AC machines. I remember seeing many threads on it back in the day.

I got an Ampro from Beenaroo and he taped a green filter right to the tube face.

Somewhere out there on the Internet, AVS probably, there was a very in depth analysis on the use of "gels" to get the color calibration more accurate. This really caught my attention when I was running my ECP3101/4101's. I would consider this mod for my 8500 which will soon be my buddies PJ that helped my pick up my PG10.

I have a summary of all this information in my greyscale guide.
