I have a Marquee 9500 and my remote has been giving me poor function for several months now. It has periodically been unresponsive when I press any buttons beside the power button. It has been working intermittently until yesterday when it has been completely unresponsive except for power. I unplugged the PJ from the outlet and it worked once. Now even that fix doesn't work. I get the same lack of function when I try the internal remote. Batteries are not the issue. I disassembled the side of the PJ and tried unplugging where the IR & internal remote plug into the board, but no combination worked. I removed the control board and made sure all the chips were seated firmly. If I have to replace the control board I will lose all the settings I paid good money to have expertly calibrated. Any ideas?

Hello

Download settings into a laptop if that works; all remote commands go straight into the control board so if there is no mis-key or addressability problem then the control board is cooked.

As Tim said look into the Marquee Loader or the Marquee Librarian. You should always make a backup of your calibration incase something happens. Heck your calibrator may have a backup as some of them do make them.

Youll need a rs232 to usb converter cable ftdi based and I used windows xp for mine but I am sure other windows or maybe mac will work.

I already backed up Jeff's settings when I calibrated his Marquee this past Thanksgiving. I used Librarian and have started discussing restoring on a new control board with Jeff.

I think the real question here is has anyone seen this happen before on a Marquee (I haven't)? Has anyone repaired this problem before? It seems a shame to change the entire control board just because remote functions are not working. It may not be a difficult fix to do this on the component level.

He's going to send it up. I can't say I've seen it before, but I will verify the fault in my set here before I dig into it. Given that he's disconnected the IR and internal keypad one at a time to isolate the other data streaming source, it really can only be the control board.

Good link on the USB-RS-232 cable. I haven't used that one before, but if it is a known working one with the Marquee than that is very helpful.

Thanks,

Good.

I don't have the control board schematics here so I can't look at the control system... but it can't be that complicated can it?

Also Curt, see my post here:

I don't know if you have used Librarian much. It seems as though there is a lot of confusion.

I ended up buying a cheaper one, however I am sure this one will work since the chipset is the same as my cheap crappy one.
